My youngest child has always been a breeze. When he was a newborn he barely cried and that made me extremely nervous because his older brother cried all day everyday until he was about three months old. It. Never. Ended. I use to pray for him to fall asleep just to get some relief from the noise.
My youngest son however was a dream baby, and although he didn’t fall sleep a full night until he was 10 months, when he was awake he was so incredibly easy. The only time he even started to whimper it would be because he was hungry.
When I was on maternity leave and was experimenting with my baking and realizing that I had skills, he was right there watching me from down on the floor in his bouncy seat.
After he learned to walk, he has continued to be my chill baby. He comes over to me for random hugs and snugs…he even helps me when I don’t need it (but I would never tell him that-of course).
This all has started to unravel recently because as he has just celebrated his 18 month birthday, he has developed a bit of an attitude. He is barely talking but he has started to do something that let me know that my baby may not be so chill anymore.
He folded his arms at me. He threw himself on the floor and when I demanded that he come to me, he grunted!
Where did my chill baby go?
There are several moments in motherhood when you realize your baby is growing up. The moment is jarring and could be quite hard to recover from (even though he looked so darn cute when he did it). Gone are the days where he was cool with everything, my son is now expressing his voice-HIS feelings.
Mommy has to get used to this.
