How are we doing this week?? It has been all kinds of straight up cold in the northeast and yet they told us it’s Spring. Despite this insane weather I was able to have a pretty decent fitness and eating week. The ball has finally started rolling in the right direction and I haven’t been tempted with the bad stuff at all! But more on that later.
Saturday morning I got up bright and early to head to Central Park for the Scotland 10k run. I ran this race last year, plus it was Central Park so I knew exactly what was ahead of me. The forecast had rain showers that were supposed to start at 11am so I figured I’d just miss it after the race finished.
Except the fact that the rain started at 7:50am while I was waiting for the bathroom. #nevertrustappleweatherapp when the race started I felt pretty ok and thank goodness all of my technology was working (!!) but the rain pretty much took my brain out of it from the start. My hubby says that I am a spoiled runner and that heat, rain and cold are my enemies. I tend to agree.
It felt like I dragged through because of the pouring rain, but I finished about 40 seconds slower (per minute) than last year. The racing conditions were not ideal but I’m happy to say it’s done and race 3/9 IF I want to do the marathon again next year.
On Monday I went to Blink and ran a good 4 miles after work. I didn’t have a lot of energy but I made it happen anyway.
On Tuesday I attended a new Classpass class with my friend Lucy. The class was a 30 minute class full of moves that worked two parts of the body at once. I am going to do a full review, but it was so good.
Wednesday I had so much soreness it was crazy. The class really did a number on me! So Wednesday night I jumped on the MaxTrainer and did 40 minutes while the boys watched TV.
Thursday rest because: sore.
Saturday I hope to get a run in of 6-7 miles, but snow is in the forecast?! What??
Now that I have been super intentional about what I’ve been eating for about 5 weeks now I am happy to report that the cravings have reduced to almost none. I still crave salty chips but I don’t have them nearly as much as I used to. I am able to turn away cake without any sadness, (or fomo), I’m eating tons of greens, my carb intake has been reduced dramatically, rice is no longer a complete staple of my dinner menu, I’ve gone entire days without eating meat, AND as you can see above I’m still getting in my workouts!
Last weekend was a bit rough, I didn’t eat much because I got some really bad news about another family member…more that that to come. However, once I got back to normal eating, I was actually pretty proud of myself. I feel like a new person, like my eyes have been opened to a new world of healthy and conscious eating.
I didn’t weigh myself this week because I think I might have been getting a bit obsessed with the scale, but I was able to wear 3 old pants this week to work very comfortably. So it’s working. And I’m excited.
