Applesauce is a favorite snack in my household. My toddler absolutely loves it. It is great for breakfast, lunch, dinner or as a snack.

I also enjoy this recipe because there are no added sugars or preservatives that come in commercial brands.

Sure it’s easy to buy the packaged kind, but this is so fun to make too!

The first time I made it, I used 3 small honey crisp apples. The 2nd time I added some granny smith apples as well with just a couple of fuji’s and it was delicious as well!

Whether you use sweet apples or a tart apple, you can choose which variety of apples you want to make! Since it’s apple season you can use gala apples, golden delicious, fuji apples and more for this homemade applesauce recipe.

When it comes to apple season, I absolutely love making ALL the apple recipes. This homemade apple sauce is definitely one of my favorite fall recipes! You can make it in big batches or small batches, whatever you need when it comes to your personal preference. If you like chunky applesauce, then you can leave it as is, if you like a smoother applesauce you can use a potato masher to make it even smoother.

It is pretty much impossible to can applesauce because of the lack of acidity. That is why we recommend pressure cooking fresh fruit only for short periods of time so that nothing bad happens to your instant pot.

You can enjoy it right away or you can let this applesauce recipe cool and store in the fridge for up to three days, or you can freeze for later use. I love this recipe so much because it’s so easy and the kids love it. I usually make it when I’m busy or on the go so that our family has healthy snacks.

Instructions

  1. Wash, peel, core, and cut apples into chunks.
