Another week of training is in the books! I can’t believe that I have been getting up three times a week to run. It is all so surreal! As you all know that I was never a fan of running. I love to sit back and admire (cheer!) my favorite runner friends but I really could never see myself running more than three miles every month. Now I have that for breakfast. What?!
My favorite GPS/Running App Nike Plus told me that I ran 52 miles in the month of July. When I saw this, I was really stunned to silence (and if you know me, it takes a lot to do that!). If someone told me a year avoid be running 50+ miles in a month, I’d recommend they stop drinking crazy juice! Say what?!
This week in particular was very interesting. We had a very cool beginning of the week and I was itching to run with no humidity! When I got outside for my Tuesday run it was a brisk 62 degrees and perfect! Did I run raster? A bit. I wasn’t breaking 10 minute miles but I felt good with my time.
Thursdays run was a bit harder, I’m noticing that Thursday runs are consistently not the best. However, since it’s an easy run, I am not supposed to pay attention to the time and just do the work (that is super hard for this data geek!). Thursday runs tend to be slower and harder. I hope that changes soon! Any of my runner friends have any idea why that may be?
So I realized that I needed to start carrying water on my daily runs. Of course I had to learn his the hard way, a few weeks ago I went on my first 5 mile run and by the 4th mile I felt like my body had heat rising from the soles of my feet right up to my brain. Did I mention it was hot… And humid? Yes. Bad move. Now until I get a proper hydration belt I an running with a water bottle in hand until I get to the track (one mile). I asked the lovely community over on the FB page for recommendations on hydration belts and got some great responses!
Longest Run Ever.
I ran my longest run ever (which will continually happen on a weekly basis, but that doesn’t make it any less special!) in San Jose last weekend while I was at BlogHer14.
5.5 miles! For more on that crazy experience check out the video 🙂
This weekends long run is 6 miles (my first unofficial 10k!). I will be running on Summer Streets in NYC (if the weather holds up!). Excited!
