What are lofthouse sugar cookies?
Copycat Lofthouse Sugar Cookies are incredibly soft, tender, and fluffy cookies with a melt-in-your-mouth texture, reminiscent of the popular store-bought Lofthouse cookies. They are typically topped with a generous layer of rich, creamy frosting and colorful sprinkles, making them a hit among both kids and adults. These cookies are perfect for celebrations, holidays, or as an everyday treat.
I was a little worried because there are simply so many ways to make a sugar cookie, but this recipe is top tier! An instant family favorite.
Frequently Asked Questions about Soft Baked Copycat LoftHouse Frosted Sugar Cookies(FAQs)
Q: Can I use margarine instead of butter?
A: It’s recommended to use real unsalted butter for the best flavor and texture. However, if you prefer margarine, make sure it has a high-fat content similar to butter.
Q: Can I use all-purpose flour instead of cake flour?
A: Cake flour gives the cookies their signature soft and tender texture. You can make a substitute by replacing 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour with cornstarch for each cup of flour.
Q: How do I prevent the cookies from spreading too much?
A: Make sure to chill the cookie dough for at least 2 hours before baking. This will prevent the cookies from spreading too much in the oven.
Q: Can I freeze the dough for later use?
A: Yes, you can freeze the dough by wrapping it tightly in plastic wrap and then placing it in an airtight container or a ziplock bag. It can be frozen for up to 3 months.
