A: While fresh apples provide the best flavor and texture, you can use canned apple pie filling if you’re in a pinch. Just be mindful of the sweetness level and adjust the sugar accordingly.

This was my first time trying to do a sweets/dessert type of recipe. I know that the potential is there for many sweet recipes but it’s just so easy to do the meals in the air fryer.

Tips and Tricks:

  1. Pat the apple slices dry: After chopping the apples, pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. This ensures the fritters don’t become soggy.
  2. Adjust the spices: Feel free to experiment with the spices to suit your taste. Add a pinch of nutmeg, cloves, or even a hint of ginger for a warm and aromatic twist.
  3. Work in batches: Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Cook the fritters in multiple batches to ensure they cook evenly and maintain their crispy texture.

Variations:

  • Caramel Apple Fritters: Drizzle a luscious caramel sauce over the warm fritters for an extra indulgent treat.
  • Apple Cinnamon Glaze: Whip up a simple glaze with powdered sugar, cinnamon, and a splash of milk. Drizzle it over the cooled fritters for a delightful finishing touch.
