Healthy Blueberry Banana Oat Smoothie Recipe

I love to get my daily fruit servings in a smoothie. It’s just so easy and the options are infinite! Here is a pretty simple and healthy Blueberry Banana Oat Smoothie that will rock your taste buds!

I’ve always had a thing for smoothies, whether its the Super Healthy Orange Carrot Smoothie  or Healthy Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie Bowl I love experimenting with different flavor profiles! It goes to show that healthy eating can most definitely be done on a budget. Eating healthy can actually be a lot cheaper than stocking up on all the junk food that is readily available. Here are some easy ways to buy healthy food when you’re on a budget.

Choose fresh food at every opportunity

Fresh food isn’t just cheaper it’s also better for you. The problem with weight gain and unhealthy eating lies with prepackaged meals, junk food and eating out more often than eating in.

Learning to cook the fresh produce you buy will save you lots of dollars each week that can be used for other much needed things. Of course buying fresh isn’t enough – buying the produce that is in season will help you save money too.

Stock up your pantry with healthy staples

Brown rice, buckwheat, whole grain pasta, oats (like the ones in this smoothie!) and quinoa can be stored for an extended period of time and be added to most meals. They are usually cheap so they won’t put a dint in your well organized budget.

A healthy diet requires a dose of carbohydrates every day and eating these foods will meet the daily requirement and ensure you get enough nutrients.

Buy Good Seasonings!

Instead of buying sauces use herbs and spices to add flavor to your meals. Cumin, chilly, garlic, curry, coriander, basil, cinnamon and many others can turn an ordinary meal into a deliciously healthy and unique one. Don’t be afraid to experience with herbs and spices to improve your meals. If you want to save even further you can grow some of your own herbs at home.

Eating healthy doesn’t have to be expensive. Learn to cook and experiment with fresh ingredients to eat healthy on a budget.
