Common Problems and How to Avoid Them
Problem: My pie is cracking on top.
Solution: This often means the pie is overcooked. To avoid this, ensure you don’t overbake your pie. It should still be slightly wobbly in the center when you take it out of the oven.
Problem: My pie is too watery.
Solution: This could be due to the moisture content in your pumpkin puree. To fix this, try straining your pumpkin puree before using it.
Tips for Making This Recipe with Kids
- Kids love to measure: Have them help measure out the sugar, spices, and pumpkin puree.
- Let them whisk: Kids can help by whisking the ingredients together, strengthening their hand-eye coordination.
- Talk about the process: As you make the pie, talk to your children about how the heat from the oven will turn the liquid filling into a solid. It’s a fun, real-life science experiment!
Is This Pumpkin Pie Healthier than Regular Pumpkin Pie?
This pumpkin pie is healthier than regular pumpkin pie because since you are omitting the pie crust, you are losing the fat and calories that come with it. It’s well worth missing out on the crust because this pumpkin pie is so delicious, you won’t even notice it’s missing!
Topping Options
Crustless Pumpkin Pie is fantastic on its own, but adding a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream can make it extra special. For a little crunch, try sprinkling some toasted pecans on top.
