Not too long ago I published a post for some quick, easy adult beverages. With the world going nuts like it has I think we can all agree that we NEED one or two. Today I’ve got a quick and easy recipe for strawberry mimosas that is perfect for brunch or anytime.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups orange juice (no pulp)
- 1/2 cup fresh strawberries (stems removed)
- 1 bottle champagne, Brut, Cava, or Prosecco (chilled)
FAQs
- Can I use frozen strawberries instead of fresh? Absolutely! Just thaw them before use and expect a slightly sweeter taste.
- Is there a non-alcoholic substitute for champagne? Try substituting with a non-alcoholic sparkling wine or even sparkling water for a booze-free brunch beverage.
Tips and Tricks To avoid your mimosas going flat, pour your champagne slowly and at an angle to retain those all-important bubbles. Also, using freshly squeezed orange juice over store-bought makes a world of difference. The fresher the juice, the better the mimosa!
Origins Mimosas hail from the sophisticated region of Valencia, Spain, where the prized citrus fruits for this cocktail originate. The strawberry version of the classic mimosa, however, is a modern twist aimed at adding a little romance to the original.
Variations
Mimosas are extremely versatile! Swap strawberries with raspberries or peach puree for a change in flavor profile. Substitute the orange juice with pineapple or pomegranate juice for an exotic twist.
Where to Serve
This strawberry mimosa is perfect for brunch, bridal showers, Mother’s Day, or just to make your average Sunday morning feel like a holiday.
Storage
Mimosas are best served immediately after being made to maintain the fizz and freshness. If you need to store it, chill the fruit juice separately and mix it with the champagne right before serving.
Common Problems and How to Avoid Them
Overly sweet or flat mimosas are a common issue. Avoid this by using fresh fruit and good-quality, dry sparkling wine. Make sure to add the champagne last and gently stir to keep the bubbles intact.
Topping Options
Garnish your mimosas with a strawberry on the rim of the glass or float an orange slice for an extra fancy touch. Edible flowers can also add a visual flair.
