Looking for a fun sweet treat to make for Independence Day? Look no further than this Fresh Berry 4th of July Flag Pie! A simple yet festive July dessert idea that’s easy to make and brings the patriotic spirit center stage.
What is 4th of July Flag Pie anyway?
Flag Pie is a delightful dessert that’s typically made with red, white, and blue fruit pies. A common twist on this is using fresh strawberries, whole blueberries, and apples with a bit of lemon zest for that vibrant burst of flavor. If you’re up for an experiment, you can swap in cherry or blackberry pie filling.
How do you make this patriotic dessert?![Easy 4th of July Flag Pie Recipe](https://brooklynactivemama.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Easy-4th-of-July-Flag-Pie-10.jpg)
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Put one layer of pie crust on the bottom of the pie pan.
- Pour the blueberry pie filling onto 1/3 of the left side of the pie pan.
- Fill the rest of the pie with cherry pie filling.
- Roll out the second pie crust. Cut out 6-8 stars and cut out 6 stripes.
- Place the Stars and Stripes on the pie.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
- Enjoy.
The pie should be baked at room temperature, and remember to place it on a sheet pan covered with aluminum foil for easier cleanup. Some people also like to add pie weights to prevent the bottom crust from puffing up. This best practice is for those aiming for the most perfect pie crust.
What’s the best way to serve this patriotic pie?
Serve this fresh blueberry pie cold with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Warm pie and cold ice cream are one of the best things you can experience on a summer holiday like the 4th of July.
