One of the best parts about blogging is getting social. At least for me it is anyway. Its actually all quite astonishing how quickly and randomly we find each other and form relationships. Since I have been blogging at BAM for a while now I have been so fortunate (borderline spoiled) to meet some of the most wonderful people on the planet. People who cheer for me, virtually hug me and share difference of opinions with me as well.
I have said a million times that a part of the reason why I blog (okay the main reason) is because of the community. When I started blogging was talking to an empty room and now its to a room of my favorite people. The people that can bring up my posts from months ago into a conversation. The folks that don’t need to comment but will tell me later on about how beneficial the information I shared was. But really? Those people that come here day in and day out whether I have a brilliant post up or not. You folks are the heart and soul of this blog.
One of those people is Janine. She is the sweetest person you can find on the internets. Really. Janine and I have been close blog friends for years. She is a part of my elite crew, my tribe, where I never miss a post of theirs and they never miss one of mine. I’ve watched Janine’s girls grow up so wonderfully and we have tackled motherhood together, just like I do with the rest of you.
Fate would have it that we would meet for the first time in person last Friday. I was invited to attend a all day event and you never really know which other area bloggers you see at these things. So when I walked in the room and saw Janine’s face, overjoyed is not even the word. Imagine chatting with someone everyday for years then walking into a room and finding them there as a complete surprise. It was incredible I didn’t cry.
We gave each other the biggest hug and again because obviously this day was about US we were placed right next to each other where we belonged. It was an early Christmas gift! The best part is we fell right into step, and of course, she is more awesome than I imagined in person. We chatted like old girlfriends (which we are) and it was completely seamless and natural. I was so happy to have her next to me. My amazing friend with the best Long Island accent in the world.
I know there are a lot of bloggers out there doingtheabsolutemost for pageviews and Instagram likes but I still believe in the power of connection. The power of relationships. Seeing her there was the absolute highlight of my week. A rep from the brand even wanted to know the back story on our joyous first meeting. She said just seeing our big heartfelt hug set the right tone for the day. When she had heard the story she was floored and just as happy that we met that day too. The best part is that I have many more that fall into this bucket of long time friends that I have never met, and one day those meetings will happen too!
