Rock & Roll Philly Bound & Racecation Jitters

Happy Friday y’all!

First I want to thank you guys for the encouragement and love that you gave me on last weeks post on my terrible no good marathon week. It was a huge confidence boost and I am happy to report that I did it! I got up earrrly–ran to my local park and completed my 15 training miles!

It was not the easiest but I did it! It got really hot but there was also a nice breeze that kept me from overheating. The park was full of people and I never felt unsafe at any point.

Plus my boys came to see me and hang out in the park while I completed my final laps. <3

I decided to take it easy this week as it is a cutback week and Rock n Roll Philadelphia is this weekend. It’s my first race as a Rock n Blog Ambassador! (Don’t forget to use my code ‘RUNWITHBAM’ if you are thinking of registering for a half this fall!)

Monday: I had both children due to a school day off and since my long run took place on Sunday, I was able to give my legs a rest.

Tuesday: I got a little taste of running outside again and now I’m all obsessed. After dropping the kids at the bus stop I made a last minute decision to skip the gym and head to my local track instead. I haven’t been there since waking up at 4:30am last year to run before work. I completed a strong 5 miles in manageable weather and fresh air!

Wednesday: off day

Thursday: Wednesday was an off day because I had a double workout planned for Thursday! (So much for taking it easy right?!)

Thursday morning I completed a ridiculously easy (practically crawling) 4 miles on the track in long sleeves nonetheless! Last week this time I was still on the treadmill hiding from humidity. Look at how fast things change!!

Thursday evening I had a Peloton spinning class with the NFL and Alyssa Milano. (Now you know that experience needs its own post right?!)

This weekend is the long awaited Philadelphia Rock n Roll Weekend. I’m taking my family with me! This will be my second double race weekend ever (remember the glass slipper challenge earlier this year?). This will be my second time running in Philly and I’m super excited because a lot of my running buddies will be there too!

I don’t have any goals for this race as they are both really apart of training. I learned a lot about the last time I brought family to a racecation so I have a few rules going in:

  1. Everyone must go to bed early. No exceptions.
  2. Mom will NOT spend all day on her feet on Saturday before the half
  3. Pool time is a must
  4. Early dinners (!!)
  5. Enjoy my second favorite city in the world as much as I can!

With these rules I pray that this race will be wayyy better than our Rock n Roll DC racecation.

GREAT week and yeah to long sleeves! This is truly the very best time of year for runners, which is why ALL the races are in the next two months 🙂
So excited to follow your adventures in Philly!! Now, you need to be at RnR Las Vegas where I will be!!!…oh and Snoop will be there too. Come on!!!

Cannot wait to hear more about that Pelton class – OMG!!!
And stick to those rules to ensure a great race experience 🙂 Good luck!!

Hurray for Racecations!! May your rest be adequate, your pool time peaceful, and all the food you eat agree with your stomach. It’s an old Irish Racecation Blessing;)

I have given up with the going to bed. I am a night owl plain and simple and I will never function until after 12pm lol. I do try to eat early and not after 7pm

Sadly I always go to bed later on mornings I need to hustle more. That said, what an inspiring post and I can’t wait to read about the Alyssa Milano thing!
