Ralph Breaks The Internet Art Class + Free Coloring and Activity Printables
I’ve never been super creative in an artsy sense. If you need me to put words to paper, I could do that without thinking but actually drawing things?! *shudder* However, this year I’ve had a bit of a change of heart. I’ve always been a non crafty mom but the in past few years I’ve had to drop that moniker — I’ve been designing my own t-shirts, vacation shirts, personalized cups and more. It’s given me confidence that I can do more artsy things but this event was way more of a challenge than I could handle!
I was invited to a blogger event to celebrate the DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital release of Ralph Breaks The Internet. We all met at the Art Studio on the upper west side to draw and paint different characters of the film. I chose Ralph because I liked his stance and it looked the least intimidating.
We got some direction from the art teacher and when he said “ok you can start drawing” it’s like my entire brain went blank. I looked at that canvas and sent up a quick prayer because this was about to get ugly.
The art teacher must have smelled my terror a mile away because he came and asked me if I needed help. I of course told him YES. He proceeded to do a quick outline sketch that took him all of 60 seconds and gave me a ton of relief!
I was able to add a few adjustments, darken some lines before I finally got the chance to paint. Wanna know a secret? I’ve been painting sporadically for the past year or so. Things are usually really really hectic at the house but there are some rare moments when I can paint. I have lots of brushes, sponges, and a large amount of canvases that I always buy when they are on sale at Michael’s. It is so soothing. I am no Picasso but it calms me in a way I can’t describe but I digress.
I was able to paint with no trouble. It was the most enjoyable part of the class. Mixing paints to find the right color and using different brushes — reminded me that I need to make time to paint a least once a week.
Here is the final product! I love it so much I’m going to put it in my office area. I truly didn’t expect to love it as much as I do and that goes to show that I might have a little art inside me after all. <3
