You are going to start this recipe by using egg roll wrappers. Although this might seem weird, these egg roll wrappers are truly the star of the show in this recipe.

Pizza Egg Rolls Tips and Tricks

  1. Drain the sauce: Too much liquid can make the egg rolls soggy, so try to drain off excess sauce.
  2. Seal tightly: Make sure to seal the egg rolls properly to avoid leaks during frying.
  3. Don’t Overstuff: Overfilling the wrappers can lead to breaking or uneven cooking.

Variations

  1. Cheese Burst: Replace string cheese with a mix of mozzarella and cheddar for a cheese explosion.
  2. Meat Lovers: Add some cooked sausage or crumbled bacon for extra protein.
  3. Veggie Delight: Skip the pepperoni and add a mix of finely chopped veggies.

Storage

These Pizza Egg Rolls are best when eaten fresh but can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat them in the oven to get back some of that initial crispiness. Freezing is not recommended as the texture may suffer.

Common Problems and How to Avoid Them

  1. Soggy Texture: This often happens if there’s too much sauce. Drain off excess sauce to avoid this.
  2. Breaking while Frying: Make sure to seal the edges well and don’t overstuff.
  3. Uneven Cooking: Don’t crowd the frying pan. Fry a few at a time so they cook evenly.

Tips for Making This Recipe with Kids

  1. Wrapper Rolling: Teach kids how to roll the wrappers. It’s a fun activity and helps improve their fine motor skills.
  2. Ingredient Prep: Let them lay out the pepperoni and string cheese on each wrapper.
  3. Sauce Spreading: Kids love spreading sauce; just supervise so it doesn’t get too messy!
