  3. Butter: Adding butter at the end gives the grits a rich, velvety texture.

Variations

  • Spicy Grits: Add a dash of cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
  • Herb-Infused: Use different types of herbed cheese for a new flavor profile each time.
  • Seafood Grits: Top with some sautéed shrimp for a complete meal.

Where to Serve

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of Grits
  • 5 cups of Chicken Broth
  • Fresh Chives - washed and chopped
  • 3 or 4 pieces of Fresh Bacon - cooked and crumbled
  • 1 teaspoon of Minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of Coarse Ground Garlic Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Seasoned Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sweet Paprika
  • AFTER GRITS ARE COOKED:
  • 6 Tablespoons of Herbed cheese
  • 1/2 cup of Heavy Cream
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Grated Parmesan
  • 4 Tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Place the Grits, Chicken Broth, fresh Chives, Fresh Bacon, Minced Garlic, Garlic salt, Seasoned Pepper, and Paprika in the Liner of the Instant Pot.  Stir well, and place the lid on the Instant Pot.  Make sure the Pressure Valve is set to 'SEALING'.
  2. Press the 'PRESSURE COOK' button, and set the time for 8 minutes.  Cook the Grits, and let the pressure release naturally.
  3. When the Instant Pot beeps, and displays 'OFF', turn the Pressure Valve to 'VENTING' from Sealing, to make sure all the pressure has been released.
  4. Make sure the FLOAT VALVE has dropped down, and then remove the lid to the Instant Pot.  Stir the Grits, and add 6 Tablespoons of Herbed cheese (see link for cheese), the Heavy Cream, butter, and fresh Grated Parmesan Cheese.  Stir well, until all ingredients are blended.  Serve, and Enjoy!

Notes

Make sure you do not add the Butter, Heavy Cream, or Parmesan Cheese while cooking the Grits, as it will curdle during cooking.  Add the butter, cream, and cheese after the Grits are cooked.
