If you’ve ever dreamed of making your own candy at home without a ton of ingredients or complicated steps, this is the one. It’s rich, sweet, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious with that signature fluffy chocolate center. These little bars are perfect for holidays, parties, or a fun weekend project with the kids.

Ingredients and Why They Work

Milk chocolate chips form the smooth and creamy base for the filling. Their melt-in-your-mouth texture is what gives this candy that classic chocolate flavor we all love. Whipped topping adds lightness and airiness to the filling—this is what gives that fluffy, mousse-like texture inside every bite. Chocolate almond bark coats each bar with a crisp, glossy chocolate shell and helps them stay firm while still easy to bite into.

How to Make Homemade Three Musketeers Candy

Start by lining an 8×8 pan with parchment paper, leaving a little extra over the edges so it’s easy to lift the candy out later.

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt your milk chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring between each round until they’re completely smooth. Once melted, transfer the chocolate to a large mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer, whip the chocolate on high speed for about 30 seconds. Add in the entire container of whipped topping and beat on medium until everything is fully combined and fluffy. The texture should look light, creamy, and slightly airy.

Spread this mixture evenly into your parchment-lined pan. Smooth the top with a spatula and pop it in the freezer for about 30 minutes to firm up. Once chilled, remove from the freezer and place the slab on a clean, hard surface. Trim a thin edge all the way around for clean lines, then cut into bite-sized bars (you should get around 16 pieces). Spread the bars out on parchment paper and freeze again for another 15 minutes so they don’t stick together.

While your bars are chilling, melt the almond bark in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second bursts and stirring each time until completely smooth. Remove the bars from the freezer and dip each one into the melted chocolate, using a fork to let the excess drip off. Place each dipped bar on parchment paper, and if you want to get fancy, drizzle a little extra chocolate across the tops in a zigzag pattern. Chill in the fridge or freezer for 20 minutes to set. Once firm, take a bite and prepare for candy bar bliss.

This recipe started as a total experiment one snowy Saturday when the kids were bored and craving something sweet. I figured, why not try making candy bars at home? The first batch disappeared before the chocolate even set! Now it’s become a family favorite—every holiday season we whip up a big batch to gift (though somehow half of them never make it out of the kitchen). My husband swears these taste better frozen, while the kids sneak them out of the fridge one by one like candy bandits.

FAQs About Homemade Three Musketeers Candy

Can I use dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate? Yes, if you prefer a richer, less sweet flavor, dark chocolate works beautifully.
Do I have to use almond bark for coating? Nope! You can use candy melts or chocolate chips with a little coconut oil mixed in for that same glossy coating.
How should I store these? Keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or freeze them for up to a month.
Can I make these ahead of time for parties? Definitely—they actually taste even better after sitting in the fridge overnight.
Do they really taste like Three Musketeers? They do, but even fluffier and fresher since there’s no preservatives—basically, candy perfection!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Milk chocolate chips
  • 8 ounce whipped topping
  • 24 ounce chocolate almond bark

Instructions

  1. Line a 8×8 pan with parchment paper. Make sure that the paper goes over the edges!
  2. In a medium microwave safe bowl, melt down 3 cups at 30 seconds and stir each time until completely melted. Pour into a large mixing bowl.
  3. Use an electric mixer, mix on high for about 30 seconds, after add the whole container of whipped topping into the bowl. Beat on medium for about 1 minute. The mixture should get really fluffy.
  4. Spread mix into the parchment in the pan, spread evenly and freeze for 30 minutes. Remove from the freezer and move onto a hard flat surface. Cut a very thin line around the entire edge of the square so it cleans it up.
  5. Next cut into bite size candy bars, I made about 16. Spread out so they don’t freeze back together for 15 minutes. While the bars are in the freezer, melt the the almond bark in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds at a time, stir each time until completely melted.
  6. Bring bars out of freezer and dip into the yummy chocolate mix and place back on parchment paper. Drizzle chocolate over the candy in a zig zag way.
  7. When all are dipped place back in freezer or fridge for 20 minutes. You won't believe how good these are!
