As Parents we have a duty to be honest with our kids, as much as necessary right? After all they look to us for guidance, shelter and care. I am here to tell you that sometimes we need to get a little sneaky with these kids. As their personalities develop more and more and they think they know everything, we have to do whatever is needed for their best interests.
Here are a few ways to get sneaky with your kids for their own good!
Sneak a note: Slip a note in their lunch box, notebook, wherever they are guaranteed to see it. Remind them that they are loved, say some amazing words to boost their confidence, encourage them in the subject they are having trouble with or just even a funny joke. It takes a few minutes and the kids will love it — even if they don’t tell you.
Sneak Them Out Of School Early: My mother is a retired principal and believes in 100% attendance so I hope she never reads this! Once in a while take the kids out of school early for ice cream, or even the movies! They will be pleasantly surprised and would absolutely love to spend time away from school (even if it’s with you! JUST KIDDING).
Sneak Them A Kiss: In the hectic day to day of school, homework, extra curricular activities and so much more, it can be hard to focus on the important things…each other. Make sure you sneak some affection in when they are least expecting it.
Sneak Them A Treat: Know your kids absolutely LOVE something but you never let them have it because…you know…you are a good parent? 🙂 Surprise them with their favorite toy, a Netflix marathon, or something else that is completely out of character for you. 🙂
Sneak Them Some Veggies: Both of my children like their vegetables in very particular
peculiar ways, sometimes I don’t have the time for all of that so I’ve gotta get sneaky! One thing that they can both agree on is tater tots!
I had them try the new Corn and Sweet Potato Green Giant Tater Tots, I didn’t dare let them know that the tots were good for them and I simply prepared it for them as I usually do. They make the perfect after school, pre-homework snack. I blinked and they were all gone! Boom! Just like that I got a little sneaky and got some much needed veggies in my kids diet (without all the drama!).
Green Giant’s Veggie Tots are a family-friendly alternative to potato tots and French fries. Filled with broccoli or cauliflower, they’re an easy and fun way to get children to eat more veggies.
