Amazing Leftover Turkey Sliders

It’s time to make something super easy for lunch or dinner today. Set aside all of the recipes that take a lot of time and energy and focus on making these Turkey Sliders for your family. Especially if you need a break after cooking an amazing Thanksgiving Dinner!

When I first made this recipe, I couldn’t believe how easy it was. Now I want to share it with you so that you can enjoy these Turkey Sliders too!

The whole thing comes together in 30 minutes. Hawaiian rolls on the bottom, shredded leftover turkey piled on, Swiss cheese layered over that, the top of the rolls pressed down, and then a butter and dijon mustard mixture poured over the whole thing before it goes in the oven. The poultry seasoning gets sprinkled on last. Twenty minutes at 350°F and the tops come out golden and slightly crispy from the butter absorbing into the rolls as they bake.

The butter quantity in the recipe is half a cup, which sounds like a lot. It is a lot. But don’t reduce it the first time — it’s what gives these their glossy, golden tops rather than a pale, soft finish. If you want something lighter, a quarter cup works fine once you know how they turn out with the full amount.

A few things worth knowing before you start:

The dijon mustard gets whisked into the melted butter before it goes over the rolls — not spread directly onto the bread. This distributes the flavor more evenly across all twelve sliders rather than concentrating it on the bottom layer.

Wrapping the assembled sliders in foil before baking keeps them moist. Leaving them uncovered gives you a crispier top. Both are good — it depends on what you want.

If you’re using a baking sheet instead of a casserole dish, the bottom of the rolls gets crispier. If you use a casserole dish, everything stays softer. The casserole dish is the right call if you’re feeding kids who don’t love a crunch.

FAQs

What’s the best way to shred the turkey?

The best way to get that leftover shredded turkey is to use two forks to pull the meat apart. This method ensures that you get tender shreds that absorb the flavors well.

Can I use deli turkey slices instead?

Absolutely, but nothing beats the flavor of using leftover turkey from your Thanksgiving dinner.

How many minutes of prep does this recipe require?

This is an easy recipe that calls for about 10-15 minutes of prep time, making it a great way to quickly repurpose those Thanksgiving leftovers.

Tips and Tricks

Aluminum Foil: Wrapping the sliders in aluminum foil before baking keeps them moist.

Baking Sheet vs. Baking Dish: A baking sheet gives you a crispier bottom half, whereas a baking dish keeps everything soft.

Melt Butter Properly: Melt butter but don’t let it burn. Use a small bowl and microwave in 20-second intervals.

Poppy Seeds: Add some to the melted butter mix for an extra crunch.

Garlic Powder: A pinch can bring another layer of flavor.

Ingredients for Leftover Turkey Sliders

Amazing Leftover Turkey Sliders

Now that you have decided to make these, you may be wondering what ingredients are needed for sliders.

Sandwich rolls – This is something easy that you can pick up at the store.

Shredded turkey – I love that this recipe calls for shredded turkey. You’ll be glad you used turkey like this because it makes the sliders taste so much better.

Swiss cheese – Can I just say how amazing swiss cheese tastes on these sliders? So good!

Dijon mustard – I have to say that all of the flavor comes from this dijon mustard. Don’t forget when you head to the grocery store. It’s an important ingredient in this recipe.

Poultry seasoning – If you have never used poultry seasoning before, you’re in for a yummy treat. It always tastes so good on the turkey sliders.

Butter – Whatever you do, don’t forget the butter in this recipe. It’ll help make everything delicious as it bakes.

How To Make Turkey Sliders

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F and greasing a 9×13 casserole dish.

Take your sheet of rolls and slice the whole thing in half horizontally — don’t separate the individual rolls, just cut through the middle of the whole sheet like you’re opening one giant sandwich. Place the bottom half in the casserole dish cut side up.

Pile the shredded turkey evenly across the entire bottom half. Don’t rush this part — every section needs coverage so nobody ends up with a sad, mostly-bread slider. Layer the Swiss cheese slices on top of the turkey, then press the top half of the rolls down over everything to close it up.

Now melt the butter. You can do this on the stovetop over medium heat or in the microwave in 20-second intervals — either works, just don’t let it burn. Once it’s melted, whisk in the dijon mustard until the two are fully combined and you have a smooth, glossy mixture.

Pour that butter mixture slowly over the tops of the rolls. Use a pastry brush to make sure every roll gets covered, including the edges — nobody wants a dry corner slider. Then sprinkle the poultry seasoning evenly over the whole thing.

Bake for 20 minutes until the butter is absorbed and the tops are lightly golden. If you want them softer, cover with foil before they go in and pull the foil off for the last five minutes. If you want crispier tops, leave them uncovered the whole time.

Let them sit for two minutes when they come out — they’ll be hot and the filling needs a moment to settle before you slice along the roll lines. Serve warm.

Storage

Wrap your sliders in plastic wrap and store them in an airtight container. They should last for the next day or two in the fridge.

Common Problems and How to Avoid Them

Soggy Bottom: To avoid this, place the bottom halves of the rolls on a baking sheet and bake for a few minutes before adding the toppings.

Uneven Layer: Make sure the turkey is evenly distributed. An even layer ensures every little turkey slider gets an equal share of the goods.

The next time you need an easy dish, make sure you give this one a try. You won’t regret being able to make a dish like this for your family in no time. Plus, it’s nice to be able to make something quick (especially if you are exhausted from cooking for the holiday!
