You guys already know that I don’t get out with my husband often enough for a myriad of reasons–we are always tired–we can’t find a babysitter for the kids and well, yeah, we can’t find a babysitter for the kids. 🙂
Friday night was a different story however, because we got
begged my mom to take take of the kids Friday night and we were off to do something we honestly have never done before in our 15+ years if being together…We took advantage of a priceless opportunity thanks to MasterCard”
Now this is a big step for hubby and I because when we get out of
jail the house, we usually do dinner (and a movie if we are lucky). So this time we went to Dizzy’s Jazz Club as a part of Jazz at Lincoln Center presented by MasterCard.
Since it was after work we decided to trudge through the insane amount of tourists and walk the 18 blocks to 60th street. I haven’t been in Columbus circle in a long time and I truly forgot how beautiful it is:
As we headed inside and upstairs we were so excited, I mean, we were showing our maturity–instead of our usual eat and run, we would experience some culture while we ate…I personally love Jazz and I listen to it at work to keep me centered sometimes. (Thank you Nina Simone Pandora Station!!) Dinner AND a great band? Yes please! It really felt like we came right out of a old movie (‘cept without the cigar smoke :))
When we arrived we were greeted by the most friendly staff and seated in the best seats in the house.
Everything about the club was so spiffy! The menus, to the chairs, to the artwork was just so smooth. I knew immediately I was in the right place.
The band performing that night was Steve Torre and he had the smoothest Jazz voice I have ever heard. I almost wanted to ask him if he could call me and read me bedtime stories once a week. That’s not too much to ask right?
There is also a full menu at the club. There is a full old school southern style menu with food choices such as po’ boys, fried green tomatoes, BBQ ribs, baked Mac and cheese and way more! We got a sample of side dishes.
The band was incredible, I’m pretty sure I had this look on my face the entire time.
Once the “set” was over (<;–recognize my jazzy language) We were so blown away and happy we decided that we MUST make this a habit, because it was such a great and priceless experience.
