Rockout Your Workout with POUND Fitness!
Last Wednesday I was given the opportunity to cover the POUND Fitness class for DietsInReview.com. I was excited to attend as I have heard of POUND before and to be honest all I wanted to do was beat drumsticks all over the place, it’s so my kind of workout!
The event was held at the Carlton in midtown after work. When I walked into the room, I was greeted with a pair of bright green RipStix*.
We got to meet the founders of POUND Fitness who were so adorable and fun that I immediately felt at ease. There weren’t many of us in the room, but I did see lots of familiar faces which is always really nice. (Blogging is just awesome like that!)
They showed us several of the foundation movements including the squat position, “T&A” position, lunge position and another position that focuses on core strength.
Then we finally got moving and it was exhilarating clapping the sticks together and banging them on the floor. The choreography was so on point that you didn’t even realize how hard you are really working!
The ladies* Started POUND Fitness 4 years ago because they were tired of fitness classes and Wanted to try something new. Since they have started they have certified over 2000 instructors over 2 years to teach at different facilities.
They currently have a DVD set that comes with the RipStix™ and the in home experience was designed to be as close to the in class experience as possible. You can burn up to 900 calories in POUND class. A normal track list includes at least 3 ab tracks and all varieties of music including rock and hip hop.
I can’t wait to take another class! It was the perfect was to release some post work tension–the music was right, the energy was crazy and you have complete permission to rockout. What more could you ask for??
