Bye Bye Baby Weight: Still Here, Still Strong

So…Its been a while.
Every time I get the urge to write about my ongoing battle (me vs. baby weight, or just weight, hold on—when exactly does baby weight become just weight? 6 months? A year? 2 years? Somehow putting the word “baby” in front of it makes it more excusable when in actuality it’s not, but I digress.) I tend to go blank because in all honesty…
There is nothing going on.
I am still moving my body, because I simply love to exercise. That has never been my issue. Endorphins are my best friend. We go together like ketchup and hot dogs, turkey and provolone, okay, I will stop with the food references.
Exercise and I are BFFs for life. I feel weird and all off center when I don’t go.

*My New kicks*

All of this is AWESOME for folks who actually lose weight while exercising.

I currently am *not* one of those folks.
The scale and I…? Not on speaking terms at the moment. I got on, it read something ugly and we really haven’t been friends since.
The positive side though is that I am still LOVING Zumba, Spin and I’m even trying random new machines that show up in the gym, like this guy:

(this machine is new, but tough!)

(11 mile interval training, Dear universe please drop one of these off at my door, thanks!)

I know what you are thinking. I do.
If she is working out so much then clearly she is NOT eating properly. Because we all know that in order to lose weight your diet MUST change dramatically. Otherwise you can get up and move until your tooshie falls off, nothing is going to happen on the scale.
You are right.
Am I eating terribly?

No.
Am I consciously eating?

No.
Am I eating salads?

Yes.
Does the Salad sometimes have bacon in it?

Yes. (most times)

I can give you a list of complaints as to why this weight isn’t gone (no sleep, no proper food planning, late evening eating, my body hates me a little)
OR
I can tell you with great confidence that, although my body is a bit rounder than I’d like at the moment, I am okay with it on most days. I still miss 45% of my wardrobe, but I remember with my first born it was a year before I really fit into my old clothes. And that’s okay.

 (me at the gym)

I DID however see a gym buddy who had her baby 3 months after me and looks bikini ready IN PERSON.
Not SHAPE Magazine Airbrushed ready…I mean real like flat tummy not even a slight pooch ohmygodwhatamIdoingwrong ready.
I am pushing along, and I can’t wait to read this in a year and say: “Nellie, look at you now, all that stressing for what, I told you we’d get it together!”

Until Next Time…

  1. great blog!

  2. You look great. Putting the word "baby" in front of weight does make it sound more excusable! Lol. It's great that you enjoy working out and are motivated. Could it be that you are adding muscle weight which make it seems as though you're not loosing weight as quickly?

I had to laugh at your baby weight vs. regular weight comment. I've been thinking the same thing. :)
Mindful eating has definitely been my biggest issue. *sigh* We can do this!

  8. Yes we can! It is just a small hiccup!

  11. For the last 3 years I've been battling the baby weight and don't feel guilty calling it that… LOL! I've seen some results but find myself falling back into my old habits. I'm not going to stress. Like you I know I'll look back on this and chuckle.

Ugh! Still working on my pooch! So annoying. Every time I start a great workout routine, something comes along to mess things up. This time it was my sinuses. I know…no excuses. lol

Loving the new kicks! Saw your comment on my Thankful Thursday post and realized there was a typo. Not going to BlogHer. :( But if I'm in the NY area later this year, I'll give you a holler. Sorry for the mix up.

  14. Ha yes, no excuses is right! Except when its a really good one…right? lol

  15. ha, no worries :) Definitely look me up!

  16. You're doing Great (you're AT the Gym). Keep it up.

  17. You look great. You're adding more muscle than you think you are. All I know is when #2 comes here, I'm going to be working out like a made woman (but having fun with it). I have clothes (jeans, pants, skirts), that I want to look better in than I did before I got pregnant. Nothing like a little pressure for oneself huh? ;-)
