Grab Your Coffee, It’s Time To Dish

Grab Your Coffee, It’s Time To Dish.

So I wanted to share a bunch of random things going on that don’t belong in one subject post. I narrowed the billion to 10. You won’t believe this stuff, actually…you will.

10) While shoveling snow outside I walked head first into my wall air conditioner. Most specifically the appliance edge. I think it’s the first time in my life I have ever had a knot on my head! The view of my (un-shoveled) block on Monday.

9) I am a huge fan of the Biggest Loser show (y’all know I love me some thinspiration!) however, I was shocked to see the winner, Rachel go from 260 to 105 pounds. I didn’t even recognize her. Congrats on her weightloss however, I don’t want these young girls believing that this is what you strive for. I hope she gets it right soon. For more on this topic you can click here.

8) I don’t think I have ever had a birthday where it didn’t snow. However, Ice rain is brand new. Dear winter, you win!!!

7) Your comments on my state of the union post may or may not have made me cry. If no one is there to witness the tears, did they really happen? You guys are the absolute best. The post may have seemed a little aggressive but I wasn’t knocking anyone’s hustle. I just wanted it to be known that my intentions are clear and focused.

6) The brain works in mysterious ways. I saw a great airfare deal on facebook and it triggered my memory that I had bought a groupon and forgot about it! Normal stuff right? Except the groupon was FROM TWO YEARS AGO! I frantically went in search of said groupon (which is for a vacation with airfare included!!) and it turns out the voucher expires on 6/14/14!! I still have time! I am in the process of booking a quick getaway for me and the hubs, but seriously. How could I forget that I purchased this groupon and not remember until more than a year later?!

5) Thank you so much for your awesome birthday wishes yesterday.  Although I begged my husband *not* to do a long drawn out version of happy birthday in a facebook post…he did…and he happened to choose a pic that I was 4 months pregnant in. Really?! The worse part is that you totally can’t tell — I just look super round. :)

4) My 2 year old is saying more and more words daily. We have had a very very mild “terrible twos” so far. He has now gotten into the ritual of sitting in mommys lap when she is trying to comment on blogs and gets especially happy when he sees the kids of Janine, Allie, & Tamara to name a few. This usually involves a lot of squealing, pointing and “mommy look!”

3) After 6 years of being an usher at my church I am resigning to step into an administrative role still within the usher organization. I’m excited because I get to introduce a new form of technology by creating databases and helping to work on their newsletter as well. This Sunday is my last service on the sanctuary floor. I will miss it, but it is time.

2) My sons 5th birthday is rapidly approaching and I haven’t planned one thing. I just know it will be Disney themed because I was chosen a few weeks ago to host a #disneyside party and was provided with all the decor and fun stuff needed to throw a magical celebration! I think I am also a bit anxious about him turning five. Such a big milestone!  I’m not ready. (Are you starting to notice a theme?) I’m never ready for these natural life progressions!!

1) My husband purchased these amazing flowers for my birthday and had them sent to my job.

Then he brought me my favorite food ever…

Brinner (breakfast for dinner) from IHOP! Yes!!

Then the big winner…he got me tickets to see Motown on Broadway next week!! We would have went this week but that no babysitter life is real! We secured my mom for next week and so I am thrilled to be going to see this Tony award winning musical. I predict there will be a LOT of loud singing coming from me, I just heart Motown.

  1. I love the list! I didn’t know it was your birthday yesterday! Happy Birthday! So cool it’s the day after mine! Your son is sooo cute! I totally agree with you on the Biggest Loser winner. I didn’t watch the show this season but I saw Rachel’s pic yesterday. I know she wanted to win obviously very badly but the message isn’t a positive one.

  2. Whoa! You had an awesome birthday. What a day! I agree with you on “dear winter, you win!”. I am not far from you, on Long Island, and I am over it. My sister lives in Brooklyn and I was just thinking how icy it’s going to be for you guys today on the sidewalks even though people shovel. Be safe! Oh, and your church position sounds way cool. I have had opportunities to modernize things that seem stuck in the past and it is very gratifying. Especially when you are giving back to a community that means a lot to you.

  3. So many great things!…well, except for the air conditioner incident – ouch. I love that your son gets excited to see pictures of my boys – mine do the exact same thing!!! I’m also utterly unprepared for the boys to turn 5! When did this happen Nellie?? It’s too much. At least I have until April to breathe. I love that your husband made such a big deal of your birthday and pampered you with dinner, flowers, a heartfelt FB post and tickets to a Broadway show! You picked a good one and he’s smart to cherish you the way he does. Let the celebration continue!!!

  4. I love that your four year old loves seeing our kids. My girls absolutely love seeing everyone’s (your included) when I am blog reading. And I find I am also on Instagram a lot and Lily especially loves seeing all the baby pictures over there!! Happy Birthday again and that weather yesterday was certainly something. Couldn’t believe the ice though, insane! Hope you had a great one other then the ice itself :)

  5. I hope you were alright after hitting your head. That ice rain is no joke. Atlanta has been known for it, we call it Black Ice. While it is bothersome I don’t see the need for it to cripple an entire city. I’m sure we’ve learned from this last ordeal.

I’m sure you never get ready for these birthdays that continue to come year after year. They grow so fast.

    Happy Belated Birthday!

  6. Some of my family went to see Mowtown and loved it. My mother bough 2 CDS + a shirt because she was so excited.

    + I love the randomness. :)

  7. Love this post. Sorry about you head knot (we used to call it cocoa…why, I have no You look great in the pic…and your hubs is awesomely thoughtful. Beautiful flowers too…I hope you’ll do a recap of the musical. I’d love to hear how it was. Kids grow so fast. At least you’ve already gotten the theme for your lil man and the decor…1/3 the battle. Have a wonderful weekend!

  8. Des and Scarlet are very happy to see your two as well!!
And I had a kindergarten info session the other night, and it produced rapid heartbeats. And we still have seven months for that one! Ugh!!
I cannot believe you booked airfare and vacation and forgot. What a bonus!!
I was shocked by the Biggest Loser too. Honestly I was 105 pounds at 5’6″ even..a few years ago. It was very natural and I tried to eat more, but it was just my lot in life at the time. I didn’t go from 260 to get there, though, (more like 90!) and I can’t imagine that’s healthy. I guess I don’t know, though.

  9. I love all the things you shared except the air conditioner incident (hope you are OK!) and the snow/freezing rain!!!
So exciting about the groupon and the fact that there is still time to book a get-away!!
Love that your little one has his own bloggy friends!!!

  10. Love this post!! Let me see….I would not have recognized Rachel either. Gosh, I hope she’s okay.
Love your birthday flowers! Gorgeous!! (and SO funny that your husband posted a photo when you were pregnant–but not pregnant enough for anyone to know. Bwwhahah!! TYPICAL!!) Sorry about your goose egg. That just goes to show you…someone else needs to do the shoveling! (that would be my take away, anyhow!! 😀 ) –Lisa

  12. You know I loved your blog state of the union and I think I got where you were coming from. And I am so happy you had an awesome birthday, Sorry about your head though – ugh! What a winder the NE is having!

  13. If you visit AZ for your birthday where I live, you won’t get snow for our birthday! LOL. It never snows here and I’m so happy with that. I can’t imagine your son turning 5…I think about JR. That will make me cry…moving on. I didn’t realize JR wasn’t too far from your youngest. He will be 2 in April. He cracks me up with what he says somedays. It’s jibber jabber mostly so when he does say a word, we’re all surprised and everything lol. He has his words that he says though which are too funny. I can’t wait to hear where you decide to go with that groupon getaway! So nice to hear that you didn’t miss out on the opportunity. Honestly, I’m so happy to be in the 2nd trimester. I find out the gender of the baby next month and that will just be way too exciting. :)

    • Right? How much fun it is when they say new words?! You like stop, ask them to repeat it, then they get all bashful because they know they are being cute!!

  14. Happy belated birthday! That’s fab about Motown (I’ve been hinting at A Raisin in the Sun with Denzel, but not getting my hopes up O_o). I’m alllll about brinner too. Love it!

  15. The photo of the big boy is AWESOME. Love it.
I saw the girl who won the biggest looser and she does not look healthy. maybe because she was so big to begin with? It was mainly her face that made me concerned. She looked haggard and gaunt. :-(
    Hope your head is OK!
Pookah skipped the terrible twos and the terrible threes. But honey, the 4s are killing us!!

  16. Ow! I hope your head is feeling better by now. And I would totally use that as an excuse to make the husband shovel for the rest of the winter…even though that could be a whole lot with the way this winter is going. What a great birthday to remember a trip you have yet to take and also get to go see a fantastic musical on broadway! I’ve also found that last minute kids birthday parties can really be the best…and I bet your son is going to think the same thing too at his party.

    • I know, I was just so scared that someone would fall! So I took it upon myself to shovel. blah. I think my kid will love his party, I just need to plan it to make myself sane!

  17. Ursher huh……I was one but my attitude got me banned. I remember one lady wanted a program one Sunday (she was not new but she wasn’t a member either) I offered her one when she came in but she said no rather hotly. I paid her no mind till she asked me to bring her one she was all the way in the front of the church. I mouthed no to her she goes and tells the head lady and they made me sit out a few Sunday’s I quit after they had me come back.

  20. Happy Belated Birthday!
Hope your head is ok! I know it’s a pain in the behind for you guys, but that snow is so pretty.
The first picture of saw of the BL winner was very jarring for me. She told People mag she was eating 1600 calories/day and taking 3-4 cardio classes like Zumba and spin each day! I hope she takes time she needs to work on the root of what’s going on.
Great picture of the birthday boy! I love his hat. These kid birthdays are sneaky and the kids grow and change so much each year. It’s exciting and a little sad.
Enjoy Motown on Broadway that sounds like a great show.

  21. I had no idea you were preggers in that pic! That’s a good thing. Congrats on your move from floor usher to flexing your skills as an admin. Go’ head and show up…lol. Every time you mention your hubs I just grow to really like the two of you as a couple more and more. There is a genuine love and LIKE there. Good for ya’ll! Now I’m off to read this State of the Union post…

    • It was in that weird in between, not quite round, not quite normal stage of pregnancy.:) Thanks so much for the compliment of me and hubby he really is my right hand.

  22. Well you sure had a full week, Nellie! Hope the knot has disappeared. I pulled a similar stunt about two weeks ago. Not fun.

Good for you that your Groupon is still valid! That’s how I got to Costa Rica last year… a Groupon. Much fun to the you and the hubs, wherever you guys go.

And a very happy belated birthday, my dear! The flowers are beautiful!
