What is Your Food Confession? Clean Your Slate With Women’s Health Magazine!

Pssst! I am being featured On Fine Fit Day TODAY for Fit Mama Fridays! Please stop by Carly’s blog for a fun interview! :)

clean your slate smart ones times square

Earlier this week I was invited to the Clean Your Slate event thrown by Women’s Health Magazine. I have been a subscriber for EONS so I was excited to attend! What I didn’t know was that I would be on camera, not once, not twice, but four times! #readyformycloseup!

When I arrived it was really cold outside, the set up was in the middle of Times Square and a few blocks away from where I work. The first thing I saw was people writing all of their confessions on this big blackboard! It was really cool to see everyone’s confessions!IMG_2509-1

After I signed my waiver/release I headed into the tent. It was nice and toasty inside and the Women’s Health Magazine staff were the type of girls that you meet and hit it off with instantly! They were so sweet and awesome. There was a line of people ready to confess their dietary sins, and I managed to get myself in there too. Was it bad that when I went to figure out which sin I was going to confess, too many came to mind? It’s been a long week. :)

I got in and I got comfortable on this beautiful red velvet sofa. I could have EASILY napped in the middle of Times Square–but I digress.

I confidently got in front of that camera and I made my confession–wait for it–

“During the snow storm last week I ate two sleeves of Ritz crackers.” Don’t judge me y’all!!

The cool part about all of this is that there was an artist on hand live drawing what I was saying in the confessional. After that it would be displayed in the heart of TIMES SQUARE!! How awesomesauce is that? After I begrudgingly left the beautiful red sofa I was whisked away again, for yet another camera interview! (I so wish someone had told me this before, I would have AT LEAST refreshed my lipstick and blotted my face! Thank goodness for a good matte MAC Lippie)

I was asked a few questions about Smart Ones who has a new line of oatmeal, I didn’t get to try it, but spoiler alert, it looks DELISH! And as I said on camera, anything with apples and cinnamon is alright with me! There is also a good amount of fiber and its under 200 calories, you can’t beat that with a stick! This is especially great for women who have very little time to prepare breakfast.

After that interview, I was the first one to get my confessional debuted on the big screen! Right before that I was interviewed again, and I was asked how it felt to confess my food sins to the world. I told them it felt great! I didn’t have to feel bad about my food choice, I could start over with a clean slate right here, right now. The Clean Slate is a great message to send to folks that may have fallen off the proverbial New Year’s Resolution wagon–you can start over with a clean plate and the right food choices!

I had the camera on me one more time as they watched my reaction to my words being on the screen for the world to see–It was a bit liberating to tell you the truth!

Now that you know my food confession, do you have one for me? I promise I won’t tell anyone, or at the very least put it on display in the middle of Times Square!

  1. That so cool you were invited to this! So many cool things going on in New York! My food confession is that I had a piece of cake that my son’s girlfriend made for us. That was last night so clean slate today!

  3. I love that you confessed about the Ritz Crackers and will tell you being stuck in the house a few times the last few weeks with the cold and these snow storms, I haven’t been eating perfectly either. This week, I have tried and think been more conscious of what OI am eating and did lose about 2 pounds (think water weight), but still it is a start! Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend :)

  4. I love reading that chalkboard! It makes me feel less terrible about my indiscretions with macaroni over the long, long snow days. I think it’s always great to have a good, fast breakfast choice at hand for those mornings when you are on the go. I’ll give that oatmeal a try!! –Lisa

  5. That was such a fun event! I love seeing all your photos. I couldn’t help but notice that Scandal makes an appearance in the background of the first one! Freudian slip, maybe? Haha. I can’t believe I missed you at this event!! I didn’t go until lunch time.

  10. You’re so good on camera, I’m not surprised at all that they kept grabbing you up. I have not been eating clean or working out since I’ve been sick. I think the poor eating is making things worse so as you said a clean slate can start right here, right now and today I’ve ate well. My plans are to just focus on one meal, one snack at a time.

Looks like a really fun event!

  14. Nellie, I’d have to do tons of penance for my food sins! Where do I begin? Well, I scarf down four slices of bread in a sitting. It is that good. I confess, but I do not repent. Like you, I can eat two sleeves of crackers in a heartbeat. I went to Olive Garden on Thursday and ate the bread pudding. Lawd! T’was good! I think I’ll stop here. This is the interwebs; the world is now aware of my food foibles.

  15. I enjoyed this post! This Clean Slate event is a great way to help remind women that we can start over, and that is okay. You look amazing in your interview pic! I’ve fallen off the wagon so many times, I can’t believe the wagon keeps letting me back on, lol!

  16. GIRL! I love Ritz… have you ever dipped them in mustard? I used to eat that as a snack growing up….and possibly still do when I am in the mood. I rarely buy Ritz though cause I know I have no self control when they are in the house.
