Tips for the Perfect Philly Cheesesteak Sliders

  2. Cooking the Steak: Cook the steak on medium-high heat to ensure it’s tender and juicy. Don’t overcook it, as it will continue to cook in the oven.
  3. The Right Roll: Hawaiian sweet rolls are a great option for their sweetness and soft texture. Use a serrated knife to cut them evenly.
  4. Customize Your Toppings: Add caramelized onions, bell peppers, or even a pinch of garlic powder for extra flavor.
  5. Cheese Matters: Provolone is a classic choice, but feel free to experiment with different types of cheese like American or Cheese Whiz.
  6. Baking to Perfection: Bake the sliders until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is perfectly melted.
  7. Serving Them Hot: Serve these little sandwiches hot out of the oven for the best experience.

Ingredients

  • 12 small rolls (Hawaiian Rolls)
  • 3 cups shaved ribeye steak
  • ½ lb provolone cheese
  • 1 cup fried onions
  • Glaze
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons mustard
  • 2 teaspoons worcestershire
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over high heat, place the ribeye steak and cook on both sides for a couple minutes until browned.
  2. Cook all the meat and then set aside on a plate to rest. While you cook the rest of the meat, saute the chopped onions in a separate saucepan with some olive oil. Cook until soft and translucent.
  3. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half, not separating each roll, just cutting the whole 12 roll layer at once.
  5. Place the bottom half in the baking dish.
  6. On a cutting board, cut the cooked steak into thin slices and then in half, creating about 2 inch thin steak slices.
  7. Place the cut meat evenly over the bottom of the rolls.
  8. In a small mixing bowl, add the melted butter, minced garlic, worcestershire, mustard, brown sugar and paprika. Mix together with a fork until a glaze is created.
  9. Pour half of this glaze all over the steak layer.
  10. Place the provolone cheese layer on top of the steak.
  11. Then place the fried onions over the cheese.
  12. Top with the other half of the Hawaiian rolls. Pour the rest of the glaze evenly over the top of the buns.
  13. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until the tops begin to get golden brown and the cheese has melted completely.
  14. Remove from the oven and serve while warm.
