Brownie Cinnamon Rolls

I don’t know what possessed me to add brownie mix to my favorite cinnamon rolls but here we are. These brownie cinnamon rolls are warm, rich, and smell like happiness while they bake. They’re the kind of treat that makes everyone forget what they are doing and hover near the oven asking, “Are they ready yet?”
Ingredients for Brownie Cinnamon Rolls

- Pillsbury Grands cinnamon rolls
- Brownie mix
- Egg
- Vegetable oil
- Chocolate chips
Why Each Ingredient Works
- Cinnamon rolls give you that soft, fluffy, bakery-style base with built-in icing.
- Brownie mix brings deep chocolate flavor and fudgy texture.
- Egg binds the brownie layer so it bakes up perfectly inside the rolls.
- Vegetable oil keeps the brownie layer moist and rich.
- Chocolate chips add extra chocolate drama on top—because more chocolate is always the right answer.

How to Make Brownie Cinnamon Rolls
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper so nothing sticks.
- In a bowl, mix together the brownie mix, egg, and vegetable oil until smooth and glossy. You want it thick but spreadable.
- Lightly flour a large piece of parchment paper and carefully unroll the cinnamon roll dough onto it, keeping the sheet intact.
- Gently spread the brownie batter over the dough in an even layer, leaving a small border around the edges so it doesn’t ooze out.
- Starting from one end, slowly roll the dough up into a log, keeping it tight but gentle so the layers stay clean.
- Use a sharp knife to slice along the perforations, creating five thick rolls.
- Place the rolls onto your prepared baking sheet with a little space between them.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, until the cinnamon rolls are puffed and golden and the brownie layer is fully set.
- While the rolls are still warm, spread the included icing over the top so it melts into every swirl.
- Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, then drizzle over the rolls before serving.

A Snow Day Story
The first time I made these, we were snowed in and everyone was bored in that “we’ve already watched everything” way. I told the kids we were making something new, and suddenly everyone had energy again. The smell filled the house, the windows were frosty, and we all sat around the table in pajamas eating warm brownie cinnamon rolls like it was a holiday. It turned a regular snow day into one we still talk about.
