Most of us have eaten some type of regular waffle in our lifetime, right? What if you were able to create waffles out of tater tots, what would you think?
All you need to make these tater tot waffles is a waffle iron and non-stick spray. Once you have the equipment, you can easily make the waffles.
How to Make Tater Tot Waffles
You are going to need a bag of tater tots and salt and pepper. Basically, you are going to heat up your waffle maker. Go ahead and spray the non-stick spray and then lay down the tater tots on the waffle maker.
Press down on the waffle maker and cook for about 7 – 8 minutes. You are going to need two forks to get them out of the waffle maker.
Tips for Making Tater Tot Waffles
I like to place my tater tots in the fridge the night before I make the waffles. Making waffles out of tater tots is hard with frozen tots. Making sure they are thawed out is a good idea. With this extra step, you will save yourself some time and effort.
Get out your favorite toppings. These waffles can be eaten with ketchup. Whatever you want to eat them with is fine. I prefer ketchup on all of my potatoes!
For some people, they like the sweet taste of tater tots and for other people, they like the savory version.
If you are tired of eating the same thing over and over again, then making these Tater Tot Waffles is a good idea.
These tater tot waffles are super easy to make, even the kids can do it!
- 1 bag tater tots, thawed
- Salt, Pepper, or Seasoned salt, to taste
- Preheat waffle iron.
- Lightly spray with nonstick spray
- Line up tater tots.
- Press down the waffle iron.
- After 3 mins or so, press the waffle iron down more to smash the tots so they will come together.
- Allow the waffles to cook 7-8 mins until your desired crispiness is reached. Carefully remove with 2 forks, to not break them.
- Sprinkle with desired seasoning.
- Serve and enjoy
This will not work on frozen tater tots. Thawing out in the fridge the day before is recommended but the frozen tots can be defrosted in the microwave.
This will not work on a Belgium waffle iron, even after stacking them to fill in the gaps it was unsuccessful. Hash brown shreds with a binder would be the best way to achieve a Belgium waffle tater tot.
