This amazing vanilla pudding recipe is so easy to make at home and it's great for pies or any anytime snack or dessert.


  • ¾ cup sugar, granulated
  • ¼ cup corn-starch
  • 2 ½ cups milk, whole
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract


  1. In a large saucepan, mixed with the sugar and the corn-starch. Set aside. 
  2. Add your milk, whipping cream, egg yolks, butter, and vanilla to a separate large mixing bowl.
  3. With your saucepan on medium heat, bring all of your ingredients to a boil. Make sure that you are continuously whisking to ensure no clumps build-up. 
  4. Once your pudding has come to a boil, remove it from the heat. Whisk in your vanilla extract. Once incorporated, add in your melted butter.
  5. Transfer your pudding from the saucepan to individual serving dishes, or one large container to hold all of your pudding.
  6. Cover with saran wrap, making sure that the saran wrap is placed directly on top of the pudding so that condensation doesn’t build up.
  7. Allow your pudding to room temperature on your kitchen counter, then place it in the fridge to cool.
  8. Serve and enjoy! You can top with whip cream, sliced bananas, other sliced fruit, or vanilla wafers!
