Happy Friday guys!!
I am so excited for the weekend? How are you guys? It’s been forever since I’ve had a Friday update on life, eating and exercising.
It’s been a crazy stressful week of events hasn’t it? Social media is a scary place to hang out right now so make sure you are taking care of yourselves properly!
My week was a bit crazy, made some ginormous life decisions that will shock most, elate others and the rest won’t know quite how to handle it. Since the blog is super public and the LURK game is so strong around these parts, I’ll save the announcement for when it’s official. Just know that the decision has brought me a LOT of peace with something I’ve been struggling with incredibly lately and since we only have one life, I’m going to put my best food forward!
Honestly I don’t have much of a recap for this week. I didn’t do much of anything–on purpose. My 20 week marathon training plan begins next week and I wanted to give myself a bit of a break before the miles start to pile up. I’m excited for marathon training even though it can be brutal. This year I’m doing a 20 week plan vs. a 16 week plan and I hope this will make a huge difference this year especially towards the end of the race when things fell all the way apart.
New York Road Runners Mini 10k Race Recap
This was my first time running this race! I registered for it last year but then I got an email inviting me to galavant in the Hamptons with Samsung Home so that was a total no brainer.
I actually traveled with two of my friends from high school to the race which was fun because girl talk.
We lined up for the start at the beginning of Columbus Circle. It was SO awesome seeing the beautiful sea of nearly 9000 women before me. The sight was breathtaking!!
The race was great. Honestly. I couldn’t ask for more. I got hot it was in the mid sixties at the start. The sun was beaming hard in Central Park–my shoelaces came apart three times (wtf?! It’s like a world record. If anyone wants to teach me and my boys how to tie shoelaces, feel free). Plus–free race photos! WHAT?!
I crossed the finish averaging about a sexy 12:47 pace which I’m happy with. My 8th race of the year was pretty great and to top off a really cute medal there was flowers given to all the ladies which was a really nice touch.
On Saturday I have the Queens 10k. This race was brutal last year with SO much humidity and a weird route that goes through cornfields and the like, I’m not quite looking forward to it–but I WILL complete it because it’s one of the races that guarantees entrance into the NYC Half next year.
