I remember last year wondering how did I become of a mother of a 5 year old so fast. This year seems to have gone by even faster and just like that my firstborn is 6!
Since he had a huge party last year (and his little brother had a big party this year) we decided to not have a party and instead go to dinner with immediate family.
Since he loves to dress up you knew I had to make sure he was extra fancy for his birthday celebration. I had purchased this 4 piece Nautica Suit from Macy’s a few months ago and this would be his first time wearing it. The hat I got from Joe Fresh Kids.
His brother was also dressed in Nautica and had his own hat to match as well.
For some reason this kid loves Applebees! We don’t go often, maybe once a quarter but we decided to go for his birthday. We got some balloons, gathered family and had a phenomenal time.
Of course we had to wait for a really long time to seat a party of 9, but I gave the birthday boy free reign of Sasha and here are some of the pics he took (including a tons of selfies with his dad!).
His Godmother (the bestie) also came which made him extra happy because he absolutely adores her.
Finally we were seated and able to eat–and the boy did just that. He ate so much from tortilla chips to mozzarella sticks to pizza he completely had his fill! He never eats like that so I let him indulge for the night. At the end the Applebees staff came and sang him Happy Birthday and he was shocked. I didn’t get a picture but trust me when I say his jaw was dropped at all this people singing for him!
Time is flying so fast! I’m going to have a first grader and a preschooler this year. I can barely deal. I’m excited though because both boys are becoming more mature by the minute asking me all kinds of deep life questions that I’m not even ready for. 🙂

Omg, your boys are adorable and that suit I just totally loved!! Happy Birthday once again and i know we will also have a 6 year old in a few short months, too. Time is seriously flying!!
When did they grow up so fast?!
As I ready myself for my two boys to be six, I can relate to ALL of this! Oh the deep life questions – they are great, right?? And I also cannot even believe the boys will be 6 in less then a month. How?? How is it possible?? I guess we should just be happy we are so blessed with beautiful, healthy boys. Happy Birthday little one…er, um big one!!!
LOVE all the camera work. He takes after his mama 🙂
SIX!!! Seem like some sort of major corner has been turned. I thought 5 was tough but this one seems a lot more grown up!
I love those little suits from Macy’s we have three of the nautica ones! I love his daddy and me selfies! I can’t believe my baby will be 6 this year either. Time is going so fast!
They are a God send because they make it so easy. I doubt I’d be able to put this all together separately!
That suit is beyond adorable! He looks so dapper!
Thanks Britt! He loves getting dressed up
We haven’t been to Applebees in awhile but from what I remember the kids enjoyed it. Happy 6th birthday to your son.
Thanks Kira!!
He was sharp! Love it. They grow so fast I use to like applebees but down the food and service has been lacking so I haven’t been in years. Those are the best parties though small and wherever the kids want to eat. I had a big party for my son once at the age of 4 and it scarred me so bad that I won’t have another for him until he is 10. I don’t know any girls so we won’t be doing anything for her until she finds some friends.
Sooo cute! I’m so glad your handsome little man had a wonderful birthday! Time goes by so fast. We still go big for the kids’ birthdays but we usually have family AND their friends involved plus their birthdays in the summer so lots of choices (backyard or pool party for the win!). However the days of having ponies, bounce houses, etc are slowly but surely coming to an end. Enjoy every moment! (And yes, we love Applebees!)
Summer birthdays are so awesome!!! I always wanted a summer birthday and then I go and have 2 kids in the winter lol smh
We don’t go big for every birthday. Last year Moo surprised me by requesting not to have a party. She’s like me in a sense that she loves to share special moments like birthdays with just close family. And I haven’t been to Applebees in a while. I need to check if they have a gluten free menu before we can visit.
What a perfect low-key birthday! Hoping he has a fab year 6 =)
Love the photos he took! He was looking so handsome as usual! My mentee is like 23 now and she still always ask me to take her to Applebees for her birthday. That is the only time I go, lol!
OAN – I noticed on FB last week, my Dad and him have the same birthday! We were celebrating together! We did the immediate family thing too. Just add a 7 to your baby’s age tho 😉
I don’t know if they’ve ever been to Applebee’s! I like it, though.
And I love that you got so fancy and let him have his fill. And I love the photo where they’re looking at each other and there’s a photobomber checking his phone in the background!
What a great birthday celebration! Love the outfits, so cute!
