Confession: For the past few weeks I have been driving myself crazy worrying about my training for the Princess Half Marathon, my times, my upcoming races…so much! Then I had a pretty severe reality check.
I’ve been running seriously for 7 months.
Yes I have completed 3 half marathons–however there are so many improvements I want
need to make!! I need to improve my stride, my breathing, my pacing, my posture…somehow I had gone to a mean place in my brain that constantly told me I should be better.
I should be faster.
I should PR.
I decided to take a step back and go to the other side of the brain–you know–the nice side? The side that is still enjoying the honeymoon phase of running. I am proud that I have made this a real and very regular habit. I have been reading/researching/absorbing information about running and honestly I am still a running newborn growing at my own pace.
Every time I put my running shoes on I learn something different about myself, how far I can push and what my limitations are. I realized early the comparison game was pointless and really the only person competing against me was …me.
I finally put up my medal rack and that’s when it really hit me, this love is still new but it’s real. I hope I never lose the fire for running and that I continue to improve and surprise myself often.

I actually got outside!! I am so proud of myself. I believe my threshold for cold might be around 36 degrees Fahrenheit. Any colder and I might be miserable. So on MLK day I went for a run, I was barely over the flu and way slower than normal but just getting outside made me so happy! I even shot a quick vlog–please don’t mind my non makeup and lack of enthusiasm–I was cold (and generally don’t run in makeup! Lol)
Less than a month till Princess! I can’t believe that it’s almost here. This was the race that started it all. I have gotten better in my training by running three times with my long run (8) today. I am really excited I tried on my costume and it is so crazy and perfectly suited for me! I can’t wait to show you guys!!
I also registered for a little race called the Brooklyn Half. The tickets went on sale at noon on Wednesday and it sold out in 6 hours! I had my ticket purchased by 12:02pm. 🙂
4 halfs in four months–lets do this. Thinking about doing the Niagara half in June mainly because I have never been to Canada. 🙂 (I think I might have a problem, ha!).
