Easy Christmas Crack Recipe
This fun holiday recipe is so great to make with kids! Super simple ingredients for a yummy treat!
Ingredients
- · 1/2 sleeve of saltine crackers
- · 2 sticks salted butter
- · 1 1/4 cups brown sugar, packed
- · 1 teaspoon vanilla
- · 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- · 1/4 cup Christmas-themed sprinkles, a mixture of green, red, white, and chocolate sprinkles in various sizes
Instructions
- On a large sheet or jelly roll pan, lay out a parchment or silicone baking sheet.
- Fill the pan with crackers, if you need to break some to fill in the spaces, go for it. Set aside.
- Over medium heat, melt the butter in a medium saucepan and add brown sugar and vanilla. Bring mixture to 270°f measuring temp with a candy thermometer.
- Once temp is reached, remove from heat and pour over the cracker on the sheet pan. Spread the toffee mixture over every cracker.
- While still hot, top the toffee with the chocolate chips and let sit for a few minutes.
- Once the chips appear melted, spread the chocolate over the toffee, covering the toffee and crackers. A silicone or offset spatula works perfectly.
- Before the chocolate hardens, top it with sprinkles.
- Place in fridge for 1 hour to fully harden the chocolate and toffee.
- Remove and break the cracker into random pieces or use a knife to cut the pieces evenly.
- Enjoy!
