5 Ways to Give Back as a Family This Holiday Season

Bake Goodies

Spend some time in the kitchen with your kids baking goodies. This can be casseroles, cakes, and other fun baked goods. Wrap each baked good in a reusable or thruway container and deliver it to your local police station or fire department.

Visit a Nursing Home

Many elderly people will be missing their families during the holiday season. Call your local nursing home to find out how you can schedule a visit with your family to give back this holiday season. You can spend time reading a book or holding conversations with the elderly to give them companionship.

Donate to a Food Bank

You’ve probably seen many food bank donation boxes around local stores during the holiday season. You can easily purchase a few extra non-perishable items and drop them in the box to donate to a food bank. This is an easy way to give up and doesn’t cost a lot of money.

Volunteer Your Time

Call around the local shelters to find out if the shelters need any assistance during the holiday season. You can volunteer together as a family during the holiday season to give back to those less fortunate. Many shelters have a higher workload this time of year, so it’s quite helpful to volunteer.

Adopt a Family

Lastly, there are many organizations that take family information to have other families adopt them during the holiday season. You can give back as a family this holiday season by adopting a family that’s less fortunate than yours this year.

These are just some of the easy and low-cost ways to give back as a family this holiday season. Consider trying one or more of my ideas to get you started. Once you start giving back as a family you’ll find that you’ll want to do it all year round whenever you possibly can.
