Surprise Visitors and The Another Round Podcast Live Show
Last weekend, particularly last Saturday, I did a slew of amazing things. The day was packed with awesome and my superpowers were on fleek.
The day started by preparing for my in laws’ short notice arrival. I found out on Thursday they would be arriving Saturday so there was a mad rush to clean and cook and host. I decided to cook my kids’ favorite meal Crockpot Pepper Steak with White Rice, Fried Plantains, Salad and Baked Macaroni & Cheese. Everything came out perfectly! It was an awesome time and we even went out and had some professional pictures done! All in the span of 5 hours.
Another Round Podcast Live Show
I have a healthy podcast obsession. I’m subscribed to at least 30 and I find new ones every day. I spend most of my workday listening to podcasts and one of my absolute favorite never miss an episode podcasts is Another Round.
Another Round is a podcasts that discusses everything from pop culture to politics to squirrels on a weekly basis. The opinions are from an African American point of view and these women are extremely intelligent and hilarious. Guests on the Another Round podcast have included Lena Dunham, Hilary Clinton, and Melissa Harris-Perry to name a few.
When I heard about the live show I didn’t hesitate to buy tickets for me and my best friend. Held at The Bell House in Brooklyn (about 25 minutes away from me), I scooted out after dinner in my very sparkly pants and arrived to a standing room only–very chic–multiracial audience that came out to have a good time.
The actual show was so so good. I didn’t know what to expect since this was my first live podcast show but they really outdid themselves. They had a career corner, an explanation of Kwanzaa (in the most fact based hysterical way), The Vine Awards which highlighted THE most funniest vines of 2015 (half of them I’ve never seen!!), Drunken Debates, and so much more.
It was a perfect night of laughter and fun. I know they don’t know me but I am just so proud of those two and all of the black girl magic they continue to create. #superfan
Right afterwards we met two of my girlfriends Scherrie and Monica for a 90s party right after. Unfortunately, the party wasn’t really up our alley so we scooted to a club that was hosting a retro reggae night about 10 minutes away.
There was a LOT of dancing. 4 hours worth to be exact. I sang at the top of my lungs and I laughed with my friends the entire night. Then I jumped in an Uber and went home. So great! Just the night I needed, I think I need to make this a monthly not yearly occurrence!!
