FFCI: Temptation Is a Mutha

Intro

My week was so good, so fantastic! Killed my workouts, ate within my allotted calories, still mentally strong and engaged in this weight-loss process. Then this happened:

Here is the story.

I was having a great day yesterday, and Zumba with my favorite instructor was so on point. Since I had a bit of energy remaining (and I hadn’t hit my 400 calorie burn minimum yet), I jumped on the elliptical for an additional 15 minutes! So to say I had a good workout was an understatement.

I grabbed a salad from my favorite place and headed back to work.

When I walked in, there was a box from Mrs. Fields (a very popular cookie store and my very favorite in the whole world) on the reception desk.

I eyed it greedily suspiciously and said to the receptionist “omg! Mrs. Fields delivers?! Who is that for?”

“I think it’s for you”

(What you talking bout Willis?)

Me: “stop playing,  who is it for?!”

(giggling) “Its for you!”

Me: “WTH?!”

(by this time I have already blamed my husband for trying to sabotage me by delivering my favorite cookies to work! He was gonna get hurt!)

Sure enough I read the gift card and one of my favorite clients sent me the box full of goodies as a token of appreciation. I am used to getting calendars and fancy pens this time of year but this gift was really nice (Not to mention expensive!).

So I did what any girl with a goal would do–I got rid of the temptation before I my tummy could figure out what I was doing! I gave it all away and kept one small bag of cookies and a triple fudge brownie for my husband. The calories are real though!

Just like that, it was over. Crisis averted. I ate my salad. It was delicious.

I find it so ironic that the one thing I have been purposely not baking–cookies–still found its way to me! Ha! I’ll be honest, last year I would have taken  a LOT more than a small bag of cookies so I am proud of myself. Let’s just call it a Christmas miracle shall we? :)

  5. Temptations don’t bother me at all. My love for the way my plant based diet keeps me lean, energetic, and keep me from being sick is enough motivation for me not eat food that wold cause harm to my body. My fitness this week has been excellent. Knocking out my 500 reps of AB exercises in the morning and getting good exercise form my kick boxing class and boxing workouts. I have been focusing on strengthening my obliques for the lats week now and I am seeing improvement. Knocking it out, thank God!

  8. Oh my. Three pounds?? Is that just the shipment or was it easily three pounds of cookies? When I had first had Scarlet, my birthday was two weeks postpartum. My mom and sister sent me a giant shipment of Mrs. Field’s cookies. I ate them all. I was a nursing mama. Probably not my best movie, but…two weeks postpartum is my excuse.

    I love them. When I pass them in the mall? I avoid eye contact.

  13. Oh, I admire your commitment! I don’t know if I could walk away from the cookies. I’m ready to make a change though. My stomach felt so horrible yesterday and I’m sure it’s from not eating right.

  14. Im so proud of you for getting rid of that temptation. I have good days and bad days, the worst days are shark week but I’ve been doing good this time around. I find that I have to tell the hubby to bring home nuts instead of chocolate, most days I’m glad he listens–the days I’m not is during shark week. I’m sure he doesn’t know what to do with me.

  17. Good for you resisting tempation and only taking a small bag of cookies. I have been craving cookies so much lately, but I’m really trying to cut back on the amount of sugar I eat. However, I probably would have ate half the box if someone sent me cookies and blondies.

  18. That stuff looks SOOOOO dang on good…and you did good, because I KNOW I would have failed miserably at getting rid of that stuff! The holidays this time around has been AWFUL for me from all the holiday parties that we have been having around here AND people bring sweet treats for our department every day this month! I just said at this point, I’m going to indulge but not TOO MUCH! I’ve lost 10 pounds in the last month and I don’t want to gain it all back before the new year!

  20. i love a good Mrs.Fields cookie. you are good. i would have at least had ONE lol.. so far the holidays haven’t been to bad. on days that I know i have holiday parties, etc. i try and keep breakfast and lunch super light. i haven’t been exercising as much though.. on vacation soon and will definitely catch up on working out.
