So hubby and I celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary over the weekend by splurging on one of the most awesome steakhouses in NYC. Del Friscos!
(Although this is our 4th wedding anniversary, hubby and I have been a pair for an amazing 13 years. You think it would be boring and repetitive by now, but I’ve got to say the man keeps the fire lit under me!)
So we had a late evening Friday reservation. From the moment we arrived we were treated with excellent service.
The waiter immediately asked us if we were celebrating anything special, and we told him yes it was our anniversary. He then suggested, all kinds of wines/martinis etc, we don’t drink, but to make it easier on the waiter hubby rubbed my belly ever so indiscreetly. The waiter was gracious enough to understand and he said ‘Anniversary AND Pregnant?! Expect some free sweets for sure!’
Um, yes thank you.
Everything was awesome; we started with the onion rings which were masterfully piled high on a plate and simply delicious. We ended up taking half of about everything we ordered home and relived the experience the next night thanks to our oven
Hubby ordered the filet mignon and I ordered the Rib eye. I tasted his, and as a meat and potatoes gal, I loved the prime rib more, though both were wonderfully flavored and juicy. Since everything was a la carte, I had a side of mac and cheese, and he had some sort of potato chips with sweet onions. As I said before it was all too much, and we ate the other half the next day!
My husband and I seriously could not talk for more than three minutes without a different restaurant staff member coming to our table to ask us if everything was okay. I loved the excellent service but after a while I wanted to shoo them away like little mosquitoes!
After dinner was over, as promised the waiter brought us a dessert menu. For some reason when he said expect free treats, I thought he was going to give us some chocolate truffles on the house or something. I certainly did not expect to choose anything we wanted off of the dessert menu!
Hubby ended up choosing…
The chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream. I am not a big sweets person, so I took a couple of bites of the vanilla ice cream on top and he enjoyed it very much. And as promised, when we got the bill the dessert was indeed complimentary!! Score!
I would totally recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating something, or just for an awesome night in NYC. It’s a bit pricey, (OK its morethanmygrocerybillforthemonth pricey) but totally worth it, we don’t do this often so it was a nice treat! You certainly do get what you pay for!
