My mom is closing down her daycare for 4th of July week so we decided as a family to take a trip down to Disneyworld!
(A little background on me and Disney: I hadn’t gone much as a child but when I was 22 I went on my first real trip to Disney. One the first night as we stood on Main St. and watched the amazing fireworks show at the end of the night, he turned to me with a ring in his hand and proposed…..

Aren’t we cute circa 2007?? I keep this pic up at my job to remember how awesome that trip was!

Needless to say, no need to describe why this is my favorite place on earth!)

We have been countless times since, and the last time we went was for a short babymoon before my toddler was born.
Now we are travelling with the kids and I have to admit that I am having middle of the night panic attacks slight concerns over being fully prepared to tackle the parks with the kids.
Here is what I have so far for travelling with a 3 year old and a 6 month old:
  •    Band Aids
  •   Water Bottles
  •  Stroller (double)
  •  Plenty of Clothes
  •  Sunscreen
  • Off Spray
  • Swim Gear
  • Diapers wipes etc
  • Toys
  • Pacifiers

Also, to make this trip even more interesting—we have finally got the boy potty trained. We are in a very golden/new stage of barely any accidents and pullup only to sleep. How can we keep this going in Florida?!

What am I missing?

Can you guys provide any tips on airplane travel?  The flight is about 2.5 hours long.
I have already made my character meal reservations…planning on renting a stroller…requested a crib for our room…
We had a bit of a dry run by taking the kiddies out to the aquarium and I learned lessons about mandatory nap times and keeping a grip on the kid—literally—He is a bit of a darter. Let me add “kid leash” to that list.
Please help me put my mind at ease and realize that this CAN be accomplished?!

  1. I don't have any experience firsthand but I know you got this!

Love the picture of you and hub, so sweet!

And I love Disney World too. I went for the first time this year and it was magical!

  2. I think you got it down packed. The biggest thing I know that is important is the nap time because from what I have learned is if they don't, be prepared for a fussy kid.

  3. How exciting you are going back to Disney!! I am going next year and taking my will be 18 month old so I'll be waiting for your recap post to see how it went. When my little guy was 6 months old we took him with us on a 5 hour plane ride to Phoenix. It's double the time you will be in flight- but then you will have double the number of babes, lol! Anywhoo I came across a blog that might help you: http://flyingwithchildren.blogspot.com/

  5. I'm with Faith on this. You most definitely got this! The only thing I'm weary about is those kid leashes. Something about them makes me shiver. Just relax and take a deep breath, Missy. You're gonna be fine.

I'm glad that you are going back to Disney. That's where the magic happens. Corny I know. HAVE FUN!

I say your list looks pretty good. But one thing I definitely think you need to include is a water spray bottle. I don't have kids but I've noticed that kids seem get very cranky in the heat. Every time I go to Disney or the Bahamas I always see a kid crying because it's too hot. So definitely get one of the fan/spray bottles to keep on hand in the event the toddlers get cranky with the heat.

    Good luck and have fun!

    You can do it!!

I would definitely say pack some books and fun things for the flight. You have to keep the naps. Otherwise they will show out and not enjoy themselves…at least that is what happened to me.

We went in the morning when they first opened. Did rides then went back to the hotel for lunch and some rest then headed back when the sun was going down. That worked out perfect, gave everyone time to regroup.

Pack hats to keep the sun out of their face if they will wear one. We recently took a car trip with my newly potty trained daughter and I put a diaper on her because I didn't want any accidents but she didn't go in it. I would say when traveling put a pull up on. Rushing to a bathroom with a newly trained child is nerve wrecking. When in the room I would say put the underwear back on.

Have fun…we're going to go next year.
