Everyone is outside again, but I think we are all coming to the same conclusion. OUTSIDE IS EXPENSIVE. Don’t worry I’ve got lots of fun things to do this summer that won’t require you to spend all your coins.

When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time at the local library because I was a complete bookworm. My friends and I also frequented the local park when it was nice out and played board games and video games when it was too hot or rainy outside.

The free events that the city held were also a nice part of summer. Free concerts and free plays throughout the summer are fun special events that I used to frequent when I worked corporate.

I totally get that it might be hard to figure out some things to do with the family this summer, so I’ve compiled a fun list of my favorite things and fun summer activities.

Some of the free activities included in this printable checklist are:

  • Feed the ducks
  • Go on a bike ride
  • Play in the park
  • Fly a kite
  • Go on a nature walk
  • Have a picnic
  • Camp in your backyard
  • Take long walks
  • Have a water fight
  • Break a world record
  • Find a new hobby

Some other fun things that we love to do in our house is throw a pretty awesome dance party, or have a weekly movie night or game night. A fun way to keep the kids busy is to go on a scavenger hunt or treasure hunt! Everyone has a great time, especially if you let the kids lead.

One of the best things about summer is that you can go outside and have a good time. You can learn a new skill, and free days are the perfect time to perfect it!

Visiting state parks is a fun way to pass the time, or even finding a great recipe that you can make with the kids. Visiting the local farmers market is also fun–you don’t have to buy anything–but it’s nice to check out all of the fresh produce!

Also be sure to check the local museums for free or low cost entrance days. Check the community calendar with your local news stations for fun events for the whole family.

Quality time with the family doesn’t have to mean spending money. There are so many free ways to have a no spend summer, or even a no spend weekend and have a lot of fun! A little creativity and you can create a fun summer bucket list with tons of free summer activities.

One of my favorite things to do is play tourist in my own city. It’s an easy way to get extra familiar with your local area on your free time.
