Don’t you just love doing crafts with your kids?  For me, this is especially true during the holidays. There are just so many crafts out there to do!  Plus, to make it even better, there are lots of benefits of doing holiday crafts with your kids.

Arts and crafts are the hub of the kid spaces in many homes, and that is for good reason! The benefits that kids develop as a result of having arts and crafts time both alone and with their parents are immeasurable, but there are some very obvious benefits that we felt like talking about today.

Don’t you just love doing crafts with your kids? For me, this is especially true during the holidays.

This one is a decoupage wine bottle centerpiece — a clean, washed bottle wrapped in camper-print napkins using Mod Podge, finished with ribbon, tulle, wood embellishments, and Christmas florals. Everything except the Mod Podge is from the Dollar Tree. It looks significantly more expensive than it is, which makes it a great hostess gift as well as a table centerpiece.

The Mod Podge step is the one that needs care. Spread it on the bottle first, then press the napkin on, then spread another thin coat over the napkin surface. Work from the center outward toward the edges with the foam brush to smooth out any wrinkles rather than creating new ones by brushing in random directions. The napkin will be fragile while the Mod Podge is wet — press gently rather than pulling or repositioning if something wrinkles.

Let the Mod Podge dry completely before adding the ribbon with the hot glue gun. Hot glue on a wet or tacky Mod Podge surface lifts the napkin rather than adhering to it. Give it at least 30 minutes.

This is genuinely kid-friendly once the Mod Podge is applied and drying — the ribbon tying, tulle, and floral arrangement steps are all things kids can do independently while an adult handles the hot glue gun.
