Russet Potatoes
The star of the show, Russet potatoes are ideal for this recipe due to their high starch content. This makes them absorbent and gives them a unique, fluffy texture after baking. Their robust size also allows for hearty slices that can hold up well under the weight of various toppings.
Olive Oil
Olive oil serves multiple roles in this recipe. It not only helps in crisping the edges of the potato slices but also acts as a binding agent for the seasoning. Its rich flavor also complements the starchy potatoes and melted cheese beautifully.
Ranch Seasoning
This seasoning blend is a mix of herbs and spices that bring a burst of flavor to the potatoes. Its tangy and slightly creamy notes pair well with the bland starchiness of the potatoes, turning them into a flavorful treat.
Black Pepper
Black pepper brings a touch of heat and aromatic complexity to the dish. Its spiciness balances out the creamy and cheesy elements, keeping the flavor profile well-rounded.
Mozzarella Cheese
Known for its excellent melting qualities, mozzarella adds a gooey, stringy texture to the loaded potato slices. Its mild flavor allows it to blend seamlessly with the other ingredients while contributing to the overall creaminess of the dish.
4-Cheese Mexican or Italian Blend
Using a blend of four different cheeses introduces multiple flavor profiles and textures. Whether you choose a Mexican blend with cheeses like Monterey Jack and Cheddar, or an Italian blend with cheeses like Parmesan and Asiago, the result is a richer, more complex cheesy topping.
The best part about these loaded potato slices is the fact that these are way more snackable than a full loaded baked potato. So, if you are looking for an appetizer that will be a hit with your guests, look no further! These loaded baked potato slices are sure to please.
Topping Options
- Crispy Bacon: Fry some bacon to a crispy texture and crumble it over the baked potato rounds.
