Easy Halloween Ghost Cookies

These adorably spooky ghost or mummy cookies are so fun to make for a Halloween gathering!


  • 2.5 cups flour - sifted
  • 1.5 cups sugar - sifted
  • 1.5 cups chocolate chips
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 12 oz mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup shortening - room temperature
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Eyeball candies/ sprinkles optional


  1. Combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and baking soda and whisk 
  2. Combine shortening, vanilla extract, and eggs (in a separate bowl) and beat until combined 
  3. Slowly add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until thoroughly combined 
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips 
  5. Preheat the oven to 350 
  6. Make 18-20 cookie dough balls on a cookie sheet
  7. Bake for 15 minutes 
  8. Chill 
  9. Melt marshmallows in a bowl and whisk with a fork
  10. Use your fingers to pinch the marshmallows and pull apart strings over the cookies 
  11. Add sprinkles or eyeball candies as you please
