Have you ever been to Riverpark NYC?
I have this thing about going to restaurant in NYC, I generally only go to new places within the confines of 5th avenue and 8th avenue. Riverpark NYC is located super east, like as east as you can get on 1st avenue. It is an incredible gem of a restaurant with a FULL and beautiful garden that is the home to many different types of basil, edible flowers, strawberries and SO much more.
Arm and Hammer Lunch with Alison Sweeney
When I arrived we were greeted with this incredibly refreshing drink (and I personally am a fan of any drink with basil in it!!).
We were there to learn about the amazing benefits that fresh herbs have for your teeth. We learned about the fresh, farm ingredients and how they benefit oral health – just like the gentle cleaning and whitening properties of baking soda, the key ingredient in Arm & Hammer toothpastes.
Riverpark Urban Farm Tour
Alison Sweeney was amazing as usual. She is just so pretty and smart! Remember when I interviewed her a few years ago on health and fitness?
We were given a full tour by Farmer Sam, highlighting all of the super fresh homegrown fruits and herbs that are used in Riverpark urban farm for the everyday menu. It was astonishing to see how many crates of amazing herbs that was hidden away in plain sight all around the exterior of the restaurant.
It was really fantastic to see because how often do we eat at restaurants and we have no idea where the food was sourced from? Seeing the vegetable made the entire experience even more incredible.
Farm to table lunch at Riverpark
First I was so excited because Riverpark is owned by one of my favorite television chefs Tom Colicchio. I already knew that the meal would be outstanding, creative and out of the box. I was right on all fronts.
We started off with this mini baguette that was perfectly seasoned with a coarse type of salt. It came with a perfectly seasoned butter that was easily the best butter I’ve ever had. (Trust me I know that sounds weird, but it’s true!)
Next there was this elevated tomato and mozzarella dish that made me re-think my entire life. It was so good. The main entree was a choice of a salmon or a pasta dish. I chose the vegetarian dish because of my seafood allergy, and I absolutely adored it. It featured several types of basil with so many layer of flavors. I so wish I could make this at home! The dessert was so great too–quite honestly strawberries are my jam so I absolutely loved it.A #FarmToTable Lunch with #ArmAndHammer and @Ali_Sweeney at the amazing @RiverParkNYC!Click To Tweet
