Every year The Residence Inn by Marriott honors a Mom of The Year for outstanding leadership in the community. Last year’s honoree was the amazing Chef Cat Cora, this year they are honoring the legendary Mia Hamm. A world renowned soccer star, philanthropist and mother, Mia Hamm was honored for her excellent work that she has accomplished with the Mia Hamm foundation.
There was a great interview with Mia as she talked about how hard it is to balance fitness with motherhood and everything else happening in life. (sound familiar?) she mentioned that she doesn’t always have time to go to the gym so she has mini workouts (as small as 15 minute sessions) in her garage. She even got one of the kids from the South Bronx United soccer league to join her in some exercise demonstrations. Which was actually quite hilarious!
The Residence Inn by Marriott donated $10,000 to Mia Hamm’s Foundation and they even had the big check to prove it!
Afterwards, the kids from the South Bronx United soccer league joined Mia on stage and took some pictures and got autographs. It was beautiful!
Once the interview was complete, we had the option to take a tour of the new Residence Inn by Marriott on 54th Street and Broadway. Of course I took it because I was curious about the space. The pictures below pretty much tell the story.
The rooms, gym facilities, hangout areas, breakfast bar (included in your reservation), deck–all of it was so insanely gorgeous. Everyone knows that NYC hotels are notoriously small but I really appreciate how they made use of the small space. There really was everything to make you feel at home, a dishwasher, microwave, dishes, coffeemaker, for goodness sake there is a Crockpot in the room!
If any of you are visiting NYC soon, I strongly recommend this hotel. The view (and proximity) to Central park AND Times Square can’t be beat!
