Easter Recap & A Weekend Recovery

How was your Easter holiday weekend?

My was purposely low key since I had a very trying week last week with the kids on Spring Break! I actually was able to sleep in…wait for it…3 days in a row! My husband had mercy on me and took off Friday to help me take care of the kids and the first thing he did was let me sleep in. This trend thankfully continued ALL weekend!

I didn’t attend church on purpose. In the last few years I haven’t attended Easter Service unless I am scheduled because my church becomes crazy around this time–there are literally folks lined up for blocks trying to get a seat. Although I am on staff, I don’t abuse that position when I am not on the schedule. Needless to say, I have spent my entire weekend catching up on cleaning, blogging and family time. Plus, Easter is very much like Christmas time where you see lots of folks you only see once a year but I digress…

My close girlfriend Kia threw a Easter Party for the community on Saturday so you know I was going to be present! We spent most of the day on Saturday cleaning and in the afternoon we were off to have some Easter fun!

The boys were super excited when they go there, the big boy bee lined for the arts and crafts table immediately and the baby was clinging to dad.

Of course, like most parties, once the boys got warmed up to their environment they were all over the place! Since the venue was so huge, that meant a lot of running for mommy and daddy.

The event was so much fun! There was a dance contest, musical chairs, sack races, and even a pie eating contest!

I volunteered to be a photographer at the event but it was SO hard trying to get good shots and trying to keep my 2 year old from escaping through the front doors! I did manage to get a good amount of shots so I pray she’s happy :).

No major temper tantrums, good food, great music and amazing weather all adds up to a great Easter Party. I am so proud of her :)

  3. Yay to a great Easter weekend and will admit I got to actually sleep in on Easter Sunday (my girls actually slept in!) and even took a few days off myself at the end of the week from blogging. Truly need to do this a bit more often, I think, because I definitely felt more refreshed then I did in months this past weekend :)

  4. I’m glad you were able to actually rest a little this weekend. Don’t feel bad about the church thing; I’ve never seen anything in scripture about attending Easter church service, but I do know we’re to rest, especially in Him, on the regular :)

  8. Looks like you had a great Easter! Ours was pretty low key and it was standing room only at our church when we got there. It was a nice service though. And then we had a great family day with my in laws, a visit with family and even watched a funny movie feel-good movie together.

  9. Being a photographer while chasing after two kids? Nearly impossible!
Sleeping in is so heavenly. We have a babysitter this weekend for our anniversary. I told my husband I’d be happy just to still be in the same town but at a hotel. To sleep.
    I’m so romantic.

  10. I am usually of the variety of not going to church on Easter because our church is one of those mega churches and it is MADNESS! But we went to the 715 service and it was awesome. I had company all weekend and didn’t get a chance to sleep in AT ALL. And it was a bit stressful. But Pookah loved every minute of it! Looks like you guys had a lot of fun! you got a lot of great details in the photos!

  11. Looks like you had a great Easter! Love the bunny masks…and I bet the pie eating contest was hilarious. Good to know you got some rest in there too.

  14. Our Easter holiday was awesome! Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to do what we wanted (poor planning) but we are making that up for sure! I can’t wait to share the surprise with my little girl.

Also, I always tell my hubby and family that we have to get to church early on those special days, because people who we have never seen in years start showing up. It’s always crazy this time of year.

  15. Sounds like a wonderful Easter and you’re lucky to get some rest. Since the weather was nice we tried to get the kids out of the house all weekend. On Saturday we took them to museum and Sunday to Easter eg hunt at the Queens Zoo. It was a really fun way to spend easter and we ended the day with a big easter dinner with family.

    • nice!! I wish I knew about the egg hunt, I might have taken the kids!! Usually we do a big easter dinner but my mom was out of town :/

  16. what a fun way to celebrate Easter…the kids looked like they had a great time!!

  17. Awwwww! This party looks so fun and I LOVE the crafts they did! My BFF had a picnic and Egg hunt that day so my daughters went there and enjoyed it.

  18. Looks like your guys had a blast! We had a very low key Easter. Much to Hubby’s dismay we went to the 8am service and I had us at the church at 7:30. Though all services are packed, the 10am service is a beast that I wanted to avoid. Plus, I make our brunch reservation at 10:30 so we’re leaving just as the restaurant is getting packed.
