Friday Fitness Check In: Non Scale Victories

Welcome to the Friday Fitness Check In! I am using this as a bit of a fitness diary to keep my goals in check while sharing exactly what I am doing with you (since I get so many questions about it! :) Feel free to link up and/or do your own Friday Fitness Check In in the comments where you can keep track of the following:

  1. Fitness: Workouts for the week, how did you feel?
  2. Food: Did you eat well? Not so much?
  3. Strength Training: Did you lift weights this week? Which ones?
  4. Mind and Motivation: Where are you mentally? What motivated you this week?
  5. Weight: Have you lost weight this week? gained?

Monday: Spin Class
Tuesday:  30 Min Elliptical
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Zumba (Fitbloggin)
Saturday: Trampoline Class + CrossFit For the first time!! (Fitbloggin)

Sunday: 5k around  Portland!! (Fitbloggin)

  • Dead lifts
  • Plie squats
  • Bent over rows
  • Hammer curls
  • Shoulder Press

  • Kettlebell swings
  • Squats with kettlebell
  • Single leg  bent over rows
  • Lunges with kettlebells
  • Shoulder press
  • Lateral raise with oblique twist

Yeah so about that. :) Food was all over the place honestly, I was eating salads for lunch yet dinner was a whole ‘nother story hence the coco bread and beef patty that was my dinner last night.

I predict more of the same crazy happening this weekend at Fitbloggin but it’s okay because I will be working my tail off working out (right?!). Did someone say food trucks? I am sorry y’all but my inner fat girl foodie is so here for this!

I also had my first all spinach salad this week and it was pretty good! Usually I get mixed greens but they ran out. Glad to have another option because sometimes the same salad everyday gets super boring.

So I usually dread trying clothes on in the stores, I find it annoying to get undressed and if I can’t fit something I love it usually makes me crazy and want to hurt somebody.

Though I haven’t been weighing in on the scale I’ve been rocking my body the way it is. So when I went to try on a pair of shorts in one size smaller than what I am I was stunned when they fit! And *really* fit not suckthegutinallthewayandprayforamiracle fit!! This journey has been up and down but these Non scale victories definitely keep me going!

It’s time for you to check IN! Do you love food trucks? How are your food/fitness goals coming along this week? Don’t forget to encourage EACH OTHER in the comments!

  1. AN ENTIRE SIZE SMALLER!!! WHOO HOO!! WELL DONE!! (You look fabulous, by the way!)

My fitness goal this week is to implement a new workout that my trainer has devised for me. It’s got some moves I’m sort of giving the side eye to (there are PLANKS GAH) but I’m hoping to at least be able to do it all even if its modified to it’s easiest form. :)

My inspiration for this week will be YOU…and the thought that some day I will try on a size smaller and, without sucking in, it will fit!! :) –Lisa

    • Thanks Lisa!! I know how you guys feel about planks so I would LOVE to see your face when you do them! LOL Thanks so much for letting me be your inspiration! It may take a while (hopefully it won’t) but the end product is so worth it!

  2. I LOVE food trucks. Where I live is technically a city/college town but it’s so country that they hadn’t caught on until recently. I follow most of them on twitter/facebook more often than I buy from them! They do park at the farmer’s markets.
I have to say that this is my first week in nearly a year in which the scale budged. I think it’s because I weaned from breastfeeding and I’m that weird type that can’t lose weight from nursing.

    • Yay for dropping weight!! I follow some local foodtrucks on twitter as well because they move so often!

  3. I love it when smaller clothes fit! What I don’t like is when they stop fitting. LOL! I’m not much for the scale so I think this is super awesome!

I hope you plan on telling us all about crossfit!

That last fitness outfit is super flattering on you. :)

  4. Man it feels good to fit into something smaller than normal. Non scale victories are just as rewarding as seeing the numbers decrease. Congrats and enjoy your time in Portland. The food trucks are new to me. I only think of them on TV. I can’t wait to hear about those. Take lots of pictures :)

    • You have got to come to NY and get to a food truck! They are out of this world. I don’t know what makes the food so much better when it comes out of there vs. a traditional restaurant but I love it!

  5. I love when I try on clothes and jump down a size — even though I try not to focus on the numbers (size & scale) too much, it does feel pretty darn good!

I do love food trucks – I work in an urban area and some of the best lunch spots are food trucks. We have a taco one that is AMAZING.

I’ve been slacking this week, but I’m going to try to get back at it next week. I have to get my base back up to start training for my first marathon soon!

  6. Whoohoo!! Congrats to you! I don’t like trying on clothes either…especially when they don’t fit
I’m not familiar with a food truck. Is that a truck selling food similar to an ice cream truck?
I’ve only made it to one run this week, but I’ve had two swim lessons and a spin class. I posted on my FB about swimming across the 7th feet in the pool (with my floatie). But it was a huge victory for me

    • YES! We need to get you to a food truck asap!! Its a truck that has hot food, grilled or heated right on the spot. Its super popular in NYC but Portland takes the cake.

  7. Congratulations on the drop in size – always a happy thing and reason for celebration!!!
I hope you have an incredible time at FitBloggin’ – can’t wait to hear all about it!!

  8. Check out that hour glass figure! I have started getting back on track. I rested for these past two days because I have been having weird stomach pain. Hopefully it goes away by tomorrow. Have fun!

  9. I have yet to have smaller clothes fit but I did weigh myself at sons dr office this week and I lost 10lbs I think its a combination of not eating. I lose a lot of weight during the summer because I don’t cook and I don’t eat I drink a lot. I love food trucks I wish they had some close to where I live
