What’s In Your Easter Basket? #bunnytrail

Can you believe that Easter is in a few short weeks? The year is simply flying by!

Growing up in a home of strong faith, there weren’t a lot of Easter eggs and baskets. My excitement came from the fact that my dress for church would be extra special because my mom didn’t play when it came to dressing up for Easter Sunday. Every week I wore a beautiful dress to church but Easter Sunday was the prettiest (and most flowery) dress ever usually with white patent leather shoes and gloves to match!

With my boys we have been teaching both the religious aspect and the Easter bunny side. You may remember us going to see the Easter bunny for the past two years.

This year is the first year that I will be getting them an Easter basket. I was invited by Hershey’s to see all of the fun things you can put in baskets that doesn’t necessarily have to be candy. I don’t give my boys candy…at all. The only time they get candy is from their grandma or after they survive shots from the doctor. So I was interested to see what alternative goodies I could put in their basket!

Some of the items included a train set branded with the different candies (which I loved!). There also candy flavored lip balm, headphones and so much more!

The Hershey’s website also has some fun and easy Easter craft ideas too!

As a gift for attending, Hershey’s gave me a bag full of fun goodies including a candy purse (you will have to see it to believe it!) check out my vlog below:

  1. Nice to see that they have things other than candy to put into baskets. I love to hear that you got all dressed up for church when you were little!

  2. You know I love that headband! Even if it’s candy!? I think it would be really funny to workout at the gym with Twizzler headphones and a candy headband!!
I put very little candy in the boys’ Easter baskets. I mostly get little toys, book or activity/coloring books. I just bought the loot from Target yesterday – so fun!

  3. Omg Milk Chocolate lip balm. Really need to get that! My girls would love the candy purse and the headband, too. Ok and the headphones would so work for me, because I keep borrowing my husband’s to listen to music and need to get a new pair. Seriously have to look into these items now and thanks for sharing Nellie. And loved the video of you :)

  5. I always got awesome Easter baskets growing up. My mom was always so good at finding the perfect little goodies (both edible and not). This year, little man is getting a chocolate bunny and a Peeps pop. He is also getting a snorkel mask, kick board, pool toys, a lego set, bubbles and sidewalk chalk.

  6. I love the train!
I always had an Easter basket in my childhood, and guess what? I’m totally Jewish! My parents love all the holidays. Even now my kids definitely get Easter baskets, but I’m lazy and my parents STILL do it. They do the grandkids’ baskets now and not ours.
And what’s funny is that my kids are mixed religion and so is my husband and his parents and it’s my Jewish mom doing the Easter baskets!!

  10. We definitely do Easter baskets, but I try to put just a little bit of candy in the basket along with lots of other fun things like books and coloring supplies. One year, we even gave T a kite, and that was a bit hit.

  11. you’re so good, nellie. i wish i could say i won’t give my kids candy, but i myself am such a sugar fiend. so if i eat it several times a day, then it would be rather hypocritical to deny it to my kids. i know it’s bad, but i’m addicted! also, i tried only eating all natural food and the problem is the weight just drops off. i need highly-caloric, highly-processed food to maintain my weight.
