Happy New Year everyone and welcome to #fitlist14!
Today I will be sharing my personal list of fitness goals that I want to reach in the year 2014! I don’t have any resolutions just targeted goals that I have my eye on completing this year. As I turn 31 in a month, I want to be the fittest I have ever been. This doesn’t necessarily have to mean I will be the lowest weight, but I aim to be stronger than I have ever been.
Fitness Goals For 2014
RUN A 10K: I have been running 5ks for as long as I can remember. I am not a person who loves to run, I really only tolerate it. I like getting on the treadmill once in a while for a couple miles and that is pretty much the end of it. However, that feeling that I get when I cross the finish line of those 5ks? Amazing. (Hence why I ran 6 5ks last year) so this year I want to turn it up a notch and do a 10k. Maybe I will get my first “bling” too!
Attend a Flywheel and/or SoulCycle class: These two classes are the most popular spin classes in town! They take spinning to a whole new level and I have be environment unions for years to see what all the hype is about. The classes can run almost $34 each so I’ve been hesitant to shell out that kind of cash. Maybe a birthday gift to myself? Hmm.
First Unassisted Pullup: I am going to have to Google how to do this because I know it requires an insane amount of upper body strength.
Take a real Crossfit class: I have always been so curious about crossfit and if I could really handle it. I got a little taste at Fitbloggin 13 but I want to take a full class. The prices around me in NYC are simply ridiculous so I am hoping to get some sort of Groupon or living social deal along the line.
Aqua cycling: I’ve been wanting to try this is since I read about it on Brittany’s blog. How much cooler could it possibly get? Cycling in the water?! I can’t wait to try.
Pole Dancing Class: Yes. I want to try. I am definitely intrigued by all of my friends and their adventures–plus I can only imagine the giggles that will take place the leg strength that is needed for this type of activity.
Take a kickboxing class: I had this on my 30 before 30 list last year and I still haven’t done it! The crazy thing is that there are reasonably priced kickboxing classes everywhere in NYC! I think deep down inside I’m a tad bid terrified. I think I need to drag someone along to get tortured too!
Go Hiking: I’ve never been hiking in my life. Living in the concrete jungle actually makes this impossible. Somehow this has got to get down, universe I hope you are paying attention!
Attend a ZIN Jam Session: A ZIN Jam session is like a master class for Zumba instructors except you learn the choreography for your own class too. I have been wanting to do one forever but the timing has never been right!
Take a bike ride in Central Park: it’s the simple things about NYC that I adore and Central Park is one of them. Perhaps I’ll rent a citibike and cruise the park in the spring.
So that is my list! Simple right? No crazy out of this world ideas, just things that I can manage in 2014. Maybe I will even do to this list!
