3 Things That Are Important (That I Never Mention On The Blog)

First: I am an usher at my (mega) church.

My church has 36,000 members. Yes. I know. Fortunately 4-5 thousand show up every Sunday. I am a part of an amazing team of women that takes care of our members, seats them and serve as extra pairs of eyes on the floor. I have been doing this for almost 5 years now and I can’t front. I love it. I do not mind putting everything else on hold to serve God’s people.

Second: I hate chicken.

Via

Like I can’t eat it. When I walk past Popeyes I want to barf. I’m sorry but it’s true. Let me go ahead and ask/answer the questions that I ALWAYS get when I reveal this fact about me

  • are you black? Believe it or not people just can’t believe black people don’t eat chicken smhh
  • did you EVER eat chicken? Yes. I believed I stopped somewhere around 4 or 5 years old.
  • do you eat turkey? Yes. But only recently after I got sick and had no choice but to start eating super low fat meats.
  • have you tried it recently? Yes and it’s still so. Gross.

Third: I have an unhealthy obsession with makeup

I never wore makeup in high school (I was quite the Tomboy actually) so the past 2 years I have been experimenting in makeup and now it has turned into a full blown addiction thing.

I own 30+ Mac lipsticks, and more drugstore brands than I can count. I have three separate FULLY stocked makeup bags.

1) my regular home stash
2) my gym bag makeup
3) my at work (just in case) makeup

I have like a zillion makeup blogs in my reader, I’m subscribed to even more on YouTube. When new collections come out for MAC I am one of those clamoring for a peek.

I love bright lipstick, smokey eyes, and honestly while I’m watching my reality shows (like The Braxtons) I am always always watching the makeup to see what they are doing.

Playing with color

There you have it! Three things about me that I never talk about on the blog (but maybe I will now!)

What about you guys? Is there something important about yourself that you have never blogged about? Or do you pretty much put it all out there?

  1. I think I need to start checking out makeup blogs for inspiration, because I haven’t bought any makeup in at least four years (when I bought some to wear at a wedding).

Love that you are an usher, and that you love it so much. That is awesome.

  3. Ha, I am one of those people who would look side eye about the chicken. I eat chicken like all the time. I would never comment though bc believe it or not, I despise chocolate and I can’t stand the responses I get from it. I hope you are a nice ushers. Ushers at mega churches don’t play! They can be so mean about making you go fill up those front seats, lol. I will never blog about my man. I’m all about the Beyonce up in this virtual space:)

  4. haha about the chicken, it seriously is overrated! that`s cool about the make-up, I`m trying to get more into makeup for the longest time I never really cared because I grew up in a small town and when-ever I went to get help at the makeup counters people were rude or didn`t know how to do make-up on someone brown. kind of discouraging. But now that I live in a city (with multiple Sephoras) I`m trying to play around more with make-up.

I love when bloggers share random (funny) things about themselves :)

The chicken thing…I don’t know if I’ve met a non-vegetarian that didn’t like chicken. It’s got to be awful for you that it’s everywhere! Ick!
You and I are makeup opposites! I used to wear a full face in college, but then fell off. I’m lucky if I swab on some mascara and lip gloss. (You totally rock the bright lip!)

I can so relate to the addiction. Since I’ve discovered me again, MAC is my go-to brand. And I won’t even get into how many polishes that I own. It’s so crazy cause I can stay up late adding things to my wish list in terms if makeup and polish.

  8. You are just too cute! I’m a big makeup fan, too, but staying home with my three little ones doesn’t give me much motivation to do a lot of playing around with my face. I LOVE MAC, too, though.

i’ve gotten into makeup as an adult myself. i like experimenting, but only when i’m going somewhere. i don’t wear it on the daily. and i agree – looking at what other ladies wear and trying to recreate it is half the fun.

  13. How funny about the chicken bit! I was that way when I was pregnant so I got a glimpse into how gross it can make you feel. . . about ushering: that’s awesome! My dad was an usher for years at our mega-church we attended growing up. They were such a great group of men and always had each others’ backs. Like a mini-community of sorts. I feel ya on the make-up. Definitely not to the level you are though LOL, but I do adore trying new beauty products of any kind. I could spend all day in a drugstore just trying stuff!

  14. The chicken thing does surprise me. However, this goes back to something I say all the time: Black people are not one monolith. We have different experiences and tastes. And that *has* to be alright with everyone.
