5 Reasons Why Every Mom Should Watch SUPERNANNY

I love my reality shows, I have been a long time unabashed fan of the great ones to the trashy ones. Believe it or not, one of the first shows I used to watch was Supernanny. I watched way before I was a mom (or even thinking about becoming a mom) and was always fascinated by the story lines and how Jo was going to solve this one.

It didn’t make much sense at the time for me–a college student–to be so into it but yet here I was. I didn’t understand the concept of parenting or even having little children around that drive you crazy, but something about the show made me watch over and over. I loved the families, I loved the solutions–and eventually I loved the kids too.

SUPERNANNY Is Back on Lifetime

I am so excited that Supernanny is returning to Lifetime (one of my favorite networks lately by the way) on January 1! Now that I am a mother of THREE, with my own parenting challenges I am quite honestly chomping at the bit for a show that makes me feel less alone in this very interesting parenting journey.

Here are 5 reasons to check out the return of SUPERNANNY on Lifetime

You can see yourself through these parents and their struggles: One of the key parts of the show is the observation day where Jo takes a look to see where the issues are and how she can adjust and tweak things. Usually the parents are in an overwhelmed state which is extremely relatable and it’s so cool to see how Jo tackles these kinds of issues.

She drops parenting gems throughout: “I know it’s easy to buy things for the kids, but at the end of the day the parents that need to teach the kids how to play and how to connect.” This is SO true and something that I have been consciously been working on myself. Face-to-face connections and teaching things that we think kids should “automatically know” has been a game changer for me personally.

She teaches how to relate to one another as parents in addition to how to relate to the children: Parenting can be hard especially when each parent has a different parenting style, or even worse when the parents were raised completely differently. SUPERNANNY helps them find a middle ground to parent together successfully. She does an amazing job with teaching them how to work as a team.

Jo points out that moms don’t have to deal with everything themselves: A lot of us can relate; we take control of EVERYTHING then get upset when our husbands do it because it wasn’t done the “right way”. Jo encourages moms to let go a bit and not become overwhelmed with doing every single day-to-day task.

Jo explores individual relationships between parents and children and corrects any strains between those relationships. For example, when a dad may not be as close to a middle child or a first child, Jo explores why there is that disconnect. She gets to the root of the problem and equips the parents with tools for how to show those issues.

SUPERNANNY premieres on Lifetime at 10pm on New Years Day! Be sure to watch and DVR!
