TCS NYC Marathon Week 10 Training + Yoga With Sound Off Experience!

by Nellie

Happy Friday!!

How are y’all?! How was your week? My week was quite a bit insane actually. I did 5 events in three days–I don’t know why I love this life so much–or why I’m wired this way but I absolutely thrive in this insanity.

I have a pretty big announcement coming soon, but you know contracts and all that stuff. What I will say is that it is the biggest thing that has ever happened in my running life! As soon as all the legal stuff is cleared I’m going to scream it from the rooftop. Stay tuned!

I am just about halfway done with marathon training–can you believe it?!

Monday: I started my week with a (somewhat easy) 4 miles. I didn’t have much time because I had my eldest at home still, so I had to be in the gym at 6am.  I decided to substitute the last mile with some strength training since I’ve been lacking tremendously over the past couple of weeks. So I took the remaining 15 minutes or so to do lunges and squats.

Tuesday: another 4 miles–not so easy at all. Again I took my 5th mile time to do some lunges, this time with my leg elevated on a bench behind me. I forgot how tough these are! I always sweat like a crazy person when I do this move!!

Wednesday: Yoga with Sound off experience–I knew going into this that I was stiff as a board because I don’t practice yoga nearly as enough as I should.

The sound off experience blows my mind every single time–this was my third experience the first one was with TomTom and the second was the awesome dance class on the rooftop! This was was totally different. The setting was a stunning majestic room in the W Hotel Union Square with incredibly tall ceilings and gorgeous decor.

We were assigned our headphones and went to work on our mats. The vibe was super chill with relaxing R&B flowing through the headphones the entire time. We even had a LIVE singer join us for the class. Her voice was so perfect and professional that you couldn’t even tell she was in the room unless you had your eyes open. I can’t wait for the next sound off event because for someone like me who gets distracted by noises, having noise canceling headphones is every single thing.

This weekend I have 14 miles on deck–I will likely do them on the treadmill because…heat.

How was your fitness and health week? Have you ever taken a silent disco kind of class? Do you yoga often?

Congrats on the upcoming announcement. Excited to find out what it is. I remember the first time I told you to try hot yoga you were skeptical. Glad to see you embracing and loving everything yoga. It’s one of my favorite but I hardly have time to do it.

That yoga experience looks very cool! Hope you have a great long run this weekend. My week of training has been a little sidelined by a cold but I got back at it this morning and have a 20 mile run come Sunday!

I’m definitely intrigued by sound off yoga – especially if smooth R&B might be involved!

I’d love to try a silent anything class. For sure.
I have never tried yoga still. My time is coming for sure.
I can’t wait to hear your news!

I love the idea of having the option of a silent space or music through headphones. And the fact that they had a live singer? So awesome!
