We Don’t Talk About Bruno Encanto Cupcakes

These adorable We Don’t talk About Bruno Encanto Cupcakes are easily made with the cake mix of your choice and a really cool candy glass you make from scratch!

Have you seen Encanto yet?

I’ll admit I was SUPER late to the party. I had been meaning to watch and life and work got in the way, until I see all of my friends have inside jokes about the movie and the FOMO became real!

I tore myself away from the computer and watched it with the kids (my tween had seen it already–of course) and it was SO fun. I enjoyed it so much especially because my kids are afro latino, and the main character Maribel looks VERY much like my little girl–Same hair skin tone and all.

If you are unfamiliar with Encanto, here is what it’s about.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto” tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto.

The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal—every child except one, Mirabel (voice of Stephanie Beatriz). But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.

We loved it. I even took an Encanto Peloton ride, and we often burst into random “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” renditions at the dinner table.

So these cupcakes are extremely fun to make! All you need is your favorite cupcake mix, OR you can make your cupcakes from scratch. You can also buy premade frosting or whip some up yourself!

The magic happens when you create the green candy glass shards to put on the top of the cupcake. If you remember in the movie, Bruno had visions that were etched in glass and you will be using green food coloring to make these awesome edible three dimensional cupcake toppings.

What ingredients do you need for these Bruno Encanto Cupcakes?

Cupcakes:

· 12 cupcakes prepared, chocolate or flavor of your choosing

· 16 oz container of vanilla frosting (Cream cheese flavor is fine too)

· Green food coloring (12 drops for frosting, six drops for the candy glass.)

· Brown sugar, optional, enough to sprinkle on your cupcakes. 1 1/2 cups to 1 cup

Candy glass:

· 1 cup sugar

· 6 TBSP water

· 5 1/2 TBSP light corn syrup

· Pinch of cream of tartar

So fun and you can have the kids help you break up the candy glass! They are a lot more likely to sneak a piece though! 🙂

These are fun to serve at an Encanto themed birthday party or even on movie night!

Enjoy and let me know how much you love them!

These we don't talk about bruno Encanto cupcakes are super adorable and perfect for any Disney party or movie night!

Ingredients

  • Cupcakes:
  • · 12 cupcakes prepared, chocolate or flavor of your choosing
  • · 16 oz container of vanilla frosting (Cream cheese flavor is fine too)
  • · Green food coloring (12 drops for frosting, six drops for the candy glass.)
  • · Brown sugar, optional, enough to sprinkle on your cupcakes. 1 1/2 cups to 1 cup
  • Candy glass:
  • · 1 cup sugar
  • · 6 TBSP water
  • · 5 1/2 TBSP light corn syrup
  • · Pinch of cream of tartar

Instructions

  1. In a medium size saucepan, add your sugar, water, light corn syrup, green food coloring, and cream of tartar. Mix using a whisk.
  2. Bring your ingredients to a boil while making sure to whisk continually.
  3. Continue to whisk and boil until you reach the temperature of 275°.
  4. Once it has reached optimal temperature, pour your contacts onto a small to medium size cookie sheet. You will want it to be the same height and thinness, so using the back of a spoon or a heat safe spatula, level out your candy.
  5. Allow the candy to cool on your cookie sheet for at least two hours.
  6. While your candy is cooling, prepare your frosting. Add 12 drops of green food coloring to your frosting. You can add more or less depending on your preference. Mix well together. Add to your piping bag your piping tip, and then your frosting. Cut the tip of your piping bag and allow the tip to fall into the hole and push your frosting down.
  7. Pipe your cupcake.
  8. If you choose to add your brown sugar to represent the sand, sprinkle that on now.
  9. Once the two hours is up, and your glass candy is ready, break the glass using the back of a spoon. Continue to break until you reached your desired size for each shard of glass.
  10. Stick 3 to 5 pieces of glass to top your cupcake.
  11. Enjoy!
